Another child is found wandering the streets of Dublin.  It sounds as if she has been abused and used in child trafficking...Police think she is from Europe...

Sometimes I am ashamed of being a human being! Unspeakably disgusting what we can do to each other, no animals would come even close!
Child/human trafficing is a massive industry, child pornography the fastest growing trade on the internet. It needs to be STOPPED. People are buying this shit, cannot believe what a sick world we live in.

I find it strange that no one has reported "Maria" missing, she could have been "sold" by her mother and/or father. To me she looks Swedish, but she could also easily come from an Eastern European country. Or any other European country for that matter. They can do more extensive DNA tests on her to determine more precicely where she comes from, don“t know if they will do that.

Poor child,Patti. Probably smuggled in a vehicle, overland,,then by sea from Holyhead or Liverpool to Dublin. What a terrible ordeal for these children,,and they don't speak English, poor souls.

I too think Maria looks Swedish. And I agree it is possible that her parents sold her to the gypsies. I do hope though that this doesn't turn out to be the case. Poor little mite.

Heartbreaking, but was she really abducted and who is the blond that is dancing with her. Something is not right about this video....no one looks as if they are enjoying dancing.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2469571/Little-Maria-dance-cash-5-000-calls-world.html

It says in the article (if I read it right, I skimmed it very fast) that the woman dancing is the granddaughter of the gypsy camp leader. She is clearly wearing a blond wig (to match "Maria" ?)

I'm beginning to have mixed feelings about the way this case has been handled. The people who had Maria could possibly be the only adults the child has known,,and therefore to have removed her at that point where seemingly she wasn't in any danger,,apart from neglect,,where you only have to look up and down our own country to see that,,,should have left her, pending any further enquiries into her background.
Instead of this,,the child has already been frightened out of her wits by having been taken from her familiar surrounds ( of any other she knows no different ) then to a hospital where she was examined ( scary for any child ),,then shortly she'll be moved again to a childrens home to await the outcome.
Meanwhile,,if her parents are ever traced,,it will mean yet another upheaval into more strange surrounds with yet more strange faces.
Regular checks should have been put in place to make sure that the child wasn't put to do any slave labour or any other work to include the exploitation of the child.
Mentally,,is she any better where she is.? Is there an interpretor who can tell us how she feels,,because at 5/6 years old, they'll know the difference between sad and happy.
What of the other 10 children who are there.?

I agree, lookout.  I think moving the child seems a little heavy handed and if they find her natural parents, expecting her to settle down with them just because they are her natural parents is a bit short sighted.  To Maria they are strangers and as you say the life she has is the only life she knows.  It is a very difficult problem to solve and in my opinion should have been handled more sensitively.  Of course there is the problem that if the authorities hadn't removed her from the camp the family may have simply disappeared. :-\

Nugs,,the gypsies have always been part and parcel of living in their own compounds in various parts of these countries around the world,,and nobody has ever taken much notice of them.
This latest wasn't a raid on children who don't belong,,it was a tip-off about arms and drug-dealing amongst some of them. It was just by chance during a search that they came across this little girl, who compared to their race,,was of a different colouring and that's what alerted the authorities.
There have always been gypsies and nomads, etc,,depending on which country they're in.

Yes,Maggie,,it would have been at the back of my mind whether they'd do a disappearing act too,,once the child had been tracked down.
Where they lived wasn't all that bad,,though where all of them slept is another matter,,but the place looked more presentable than I was expecting.

yes but what with the close relationship between the greek police and neo nazis i suspect something rather unpleasant could be happening here.

Yes,nugs,,I'm not a great lover of the Greeks at all and find them very brusque in manner,,even in a situation over this little girl,,not much sensitivity will be on display,,,unlike here where all manner of people would be sending gifts to the little girl and making her feel loved,,,but the people there are entirely different in every way.
Look at those orphans in Romania,,the state of some of them, yet their carers weren't gypsies. It was only when our people visited and helped that things started to improve there.
So what I'm saying is that they seem clueless in their regard to children,,and no doubt she was loved when she was with those Romas,,so to remove the child from all that she had known can cause more damage than is being done at present.
