After Jeremy confronted the Eatons about things they had been taking from the farmhouse, which they were laying claim to, Robert Boutflour spoke to DS Jones and told him about a silencer had been found, which caused DS Jones to allegedly exclaim, "what silencer", as though he had never any knowlege about the existence of a silencer at all, prior to Robert Boutflour speaking to him about one on 12th August 1985, yet in the previous breath DS Jones told COLP that on 9th August 1985, that both he and DCI Jones had been to see Jeremy at his cottage on 9th August 1985, and spoken to Jeremy about the silencer...

Now, which is it...

Either DS Jones did know about a silencer by 9th August 1985, when he and Taff spoke to Jeremy, or he knew nothing at all about a silencer when Robert Boutflour spoke to him about one being found by his son when Robert Boutflour spoke to DS Jones on 12th August 1985...

Jones has got his story all wrong -  he either knew about a silencer on the 9th August, or he didn't, he could not have known  until the 12th, if he knew on the 9th August 1985, or vice versa...
