Or maybe she can't except it after all these years Nugs because she believed he was innocent.  I really feel for his mother, Joan was her friend and to think your son has murdered your lovely friend comes as a hard blow...

I think Simon is coming to terms with what he has done and maybe he has become a piggy in the middle and has been torn for a long while as to how he tells those that love him what he has done.  I would think that he has had many years to reflect on this and felt like confessing many times, but has held back for one reason or another.

If Steph genuinely did not know and I believe that she didn't then she must be in a heap right now, but hopefully in time she will move on with or without her husband...I hope its the latter for her sake.

Wonder what will happen with the book now?  So many people have got hurt, but mostly the families at the end of the day...

Well,I am shocked regarding Hall's confession so late in the day,but not surprised to have it confirmed that he is guilty. There were pointers to his guilt,ie the window of oppurtunity, the changing of his story regarding what clothes he was wearing, the story he told to his work colleague that Mrs.Albert had been in his car (when she hadn't) in order to explain away the fibres. I still believe that he killed Mrs.Albert after she caught him in her house and recognised him.
I still, however,do not believe he acted alone and am wondering if,along with his own burden of guilt, the bitterness of covering for someone else has caused him to finally confess? Simon will still serve the same sentence, nothing will change there, and he is due for release in the next couple of years.Maybe he feels that whoever else is culpaple should pay the price too? It wouldn't surprise me if this is what came next.
I totally agree with all that Bridget said in her post and also that my sympathies go out to Simons family. It must be as horrendous for them now as it was back when the murder happened. And of course for the family of Joan Albert too.I wish them peace at last.
RIP Joan Albert

Exactly nugs, and it's also looking highly likely that he was also involved in the burglary at Highham that same night too.

Its a shock Nugs.

It is so shocking. I have thought about this all day long..there are obvious reasons as to why he has now confessed ..although it does'nt quite make any sense..or maybe it does..I have a lot to say and have my opinions but something had to give..

Joan Albert was a fragile vulnerable old lady, her murder could only have been committed by an evil coward.

To the family of Mrs J.Albert 'I wish you peace and closure' and at long last the nightmare is over.

BBC East is doing an item on Simon Hall's confession in the regional programme at 10.25. Anyone out of the area can watch it in Sky channel 961.

Hi Paris :)  I don't know what those reason are, maybe they are best staying private, I don't know! No doubt we will be told eventually why.  Do you think Simon was troubled with what he had done and that his only escape was to face his demons in the end?  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Hi Lugg....I would think that Steph will be gutted.  She loves this man so much and has fought every obstacle in her way to try her best to free the man she loves.  I hope she is well and I hope she recovers from this.  I now think this is personal for her and I hope everyone leaves her alone.  Those who don't will show their true colours and show just what type of person they are in real life...Its a sad read but the truth is far better than anything else in my opinion.
Thank you for your kind thoughts regarding Stephanie, Patti. Some judge her severely. You do not. Neither do I. There was no deceit in her believing in her husband's innocence. She is absolutely gutted and is nothing like people portray her on this and other forums.

Lugg :)

Steph and I had some serious rows on and behind the scenes.  I would be lying if I said that we were best friends, but we did manage to engage better towards the end and we both met each other half way and finally spoke on the phone....

I dislike kicking someone when they are down Lugg and I really feel for her.  She has to stay strong and find help in all the right places eh! Night Lugg/all  ;D ;D ;D ;D
