that would be interesting and shed some factual light on this discussion once and for all.

Surely there has to be a written confession with Simon's signiture on it. some details to further convince and satisfy that his confession is genuine.. it appears he was there during the attack on Mrs A. and the fibre evidence is compelling (I did not quite understand the real significance of the fibre evidence before) but realise now how strong it really was and places him directly at the crime scene.. I dont know what clothes he was seen wearing on the night in question..and if he returned home in another outfit? does anyone have this info?

and could he have had some spare clothing or even a gym kit in his car or something..which he may of changed into before returning home that night? just a question..and trying to make sense of this..it is always about (what has not been divulged) that is most interesting and could shed more light on the real facts..

So why is there no mention of the actual confession word for word? i would have thought this would be real press sensationalism...

I don't really understand why there would be a 'written statement' of the 'confession'? Hall was already convicted and deemed guilty of the crime anyway. Surely a written statement would only be necessary if there were any pending court cases, which of course there are not.
My hubby heard on a news item that Hall confessed in a letter to a third party and that the letter was intercepted by the prison authorities. But then again, the media are not always accurate as we know!

if he made a formal confession the prison athuritys i think they would take a written statement certainly when the police came to interview him about they would of done.

if a statement isnt writtan down and sighed i cant see how can be called a statement.

and surely they would want to take a written statement in case he tryed to deny it later.

He knew the long awaited C.C.R.C  decision was due at any time. That application has been cancelled by SH. It would have been a travesty of justice if the C.C.R.C had referred the case to the Court of Appeal, then he was acquitted.

These are not the actions of an innocent man. I doubt very much if anyone would confess to murdering a defenceless frail pensioner unless they had. Most would prefer spending the remainder of their life in jail.

Can only speculate that he confided in someone. That someone then blew the whistle

That old turkey, SH mother was a friend of Mrs A she spent time at her house, she also spent time in SH car and at her own home it is not unreasonable to think that any fibres could have happened via this route. Reasonable doubt anyone?  Not that it matters now tbh
Yes,that 'old turkey' the fibre evidence was compelling enough to convince a jury of Hall's guilt!
Yes,we know that Simon's mother spent time at Mrs.Albert's house,I am no forensic expert but I take it you are referring to 'secondary transfer'? The fibres  were discovered on Mrs Albert's face, legs, dressing gown, the immediate area of her body, the kitchen, around the broken glass of the window,on a concrete post in her back garden, and on fence panels at 15 Boydlands and 3 Vine walk (clearly then the entry or escape route ?). I personally cannot really see Simon's mother only depositing the fibres in these specific areas, can you? And what on earth would Simon's mother be doing in Mrs A's neighbouring gardens in order to deposit the fibres there?
The case still has me stumped due to the DNA,hair samples etc collected which didn't match Hall's. This appears to point to an accomplice? I disagree though that the footprints were not a match for Hall. A true shoe size could not be measured but was estimated as being between a size 6 and a half and a size 9. I understand Simon is a size 8? I know the tread was described as being made from 'city' type shoes and Simon allegedly did not own such a pair, but this was 6 months AFTER the murder! His mother stated that he had been wearing a pair of brown 'CAT' style boots and BLUE jeans on the night in question, and no disrespect to her but how could she possibly remember this 6 months after the event? I certainly could not describe what any of my sons were wearing on a particular night some 6 months ago!
Personally,as the jury did,I find the fibre evidence very very compelling.

The remaining DNA could have belonged to a previous visitor unrelated to the actual murder, who had no criminal record.Hence no DNA comparison available on the police national database.
