My word,,the CCRC don't half drive a hard bargain. It doesn't seem ethical to me that they're there to see " fair play ",,yet dismiss any evidence,,,even if it proves a persons' innocence,,, unless it's new.?

Well that's because it has to be new for the CoA to accept it. A defendant is expected to put forward all of his evidence / case at trial, otherwise the court system will be overrun with people having 2nd, 3rd, 4th bites of the cherry. I believe JB found this out to his detriment when he commented that he "hadn't shown his full hand yet" or a very similar comment.

So how does this differ from the original method of appeal Bridget?

I don't think it does in that respect, I've always seen the CCRC as being more of a filter than an assistance to applicants.
