I found CC's posts about the Tranmer's interesting because I'd never before come across that theory.
Also, CC made a good point about the Cadaver dog picking up the scent in the apartment as possibly being a result of cross contamination.
With the McCanns it's difficult to rule them out.

I think when you remove all the noise, which is about 80% - 90%, it is obvious and simple that the perp was someone who was very aware of the McCanns nightly ritual ie at tapas bar, patio door unlocked and children in bedroom/asleep.  This narrows it down to the Tranmers.  They may have taken her with a view to raise her as their own given they were a childless couple in their 50's.  They could be forgiven for thinking the children were being neglected due to the McCanns leaving them unsupervised every night in an unlocked holiday apartment and thought they were doing all concerned a favour. 

Maybe the mark in the eye made things difficult in that MM became more easily identifiable?  Psychiatrist Raj Persaud makes a good point about this:

They were a childless couple in their 50s, who visited their aunt, Pamela Fenn, who lived on the third floor of the Ocean Club complex. The McCanns had an apartment on the ground floor.

I might suggest the Tranmers remained childless after twenty years of marriage because they didn't wish to have children.

You said they visited in the morning.  I said they left early evening.  According to CAT's interview they left at 6.30pm which chimes with PF's wit stat.  So one or both went back later to abduct MM.

How does it contradict my assertion?  CAT claims they left PF's circa 6.30pm.  PF states she was alone in the evening.  Evening starts at 6pm.  The Tranmers, one or both, were available to abduct MM inbetween the checks.  They knew the McCanns MO from when they observed on the Sunday evening and from what they heard from PF and observed again on the Thu eve.  Stop being naive Steve, they didn't need to be at PF's up until they abducted MM.  They left and drove somewhere nearby to watch and wait.

And no one knows the motive: wanting a child of their own, sexual, sadistic.  And no one knows whether one, and which one, or both were involved.

PF didn't live on the third floor.  She was directly above the McCanns ground floor apartment. 

Maybe they didn't want children but maybe one or both wanted one to abuse either sexually or sadistically.
