Gresham's is a Public School, as defined by its Headmaster being on the Headmaster's Conference.
The CCF was obligatory for all scholars, on attaining the 4th form of Main School. I have not seen it quoted, to which section of the Force Jeremy was attached, or what rank, if any, was achieved. Rifleshooting was a minor part of the activities, being engaged upon in exercises, and Field Days. The most intensive and exciting part, was the fortnight's Summer Camp. This was when cadets had the opportunity to shoot, by accident, at each other,with the cumbersome Lee Enfield .303's.
Do we know where Nevill went to school?
Of course we know, after the war, he went to Cirencester Agricultural College, near wher Sheila was later born, at Gloucester. That would have been a very expensive course.
RWB was trained there, where his father, Bobby B...F.... was head of the College, wrote his book -'The Book of the Cow, and resided at the Dairy Farm.
