The man accused of the abduction and murder of April Jones has appeared in court and pleaded not guilty, though his barrister says he is "probably responsible" for her death. Mike McCarthy reports.

That's just what I was going to say....It doesn't add up that his barrister has made such a comment. Maybe there is something about this case that hasn't come yet?????????

Mark Bridger, 47, also denies attempting to pervert the course of justice following her disappearance in Machynlleth, Powys, in October.

April went missing on 1 October, and her mother and father, Coral and Paul, were at the plea and case management hearing at Mold Crown Court on Monday.

Dyfed-Powys Police still have 16 teams involved in the search operation.

The defendant, of Machynlleth, also denies a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice which refers to the unlawful disposal and concealment of a body.

I can't make head nor tail of this at all.  He pleads not guilty to all 3 charges, so he either didn't take her in the car, murder her and dispose of the body, or he did take her in the car, murder her and dispose of the body.  If he did not murder April, then all I can think of is he knows who she was with, and did nothing to protect her from harm.  Unless he is claiming insanity and saying he cant remember anything.  Can anyone else think of a reason why he would be "probably responsible"?  Did anyone see him on the news?  Was that patches he was wearing?

When MB was first up in court the judge made a strange comment before remanding him, (will go and find the link) now his barrister is making a strange comment before the trial has started. It's all very odd  ???

The report also goes on to say this:

" The charge faced by the accused man of attempting to pervert the course of justice refers to the unlawful disposal and concealment of a body."   :-\

No  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I only caught a brief glimpse of the top half of his body going into the van and he was wearing the colours yellow and green "patches" that a prisoner who poses a security risk would wear from prison to court, from court to prison.  He wouldnt wear them in the dock, and he was reported as wearing a dark top.  I may be wrong and barking up the wrong tree. I'll see if I can find a clip online and take a better look.
