Bews asked who Sheila would be most irritated at seeing.

'Both of us. I don'like her and she doesn't like me'.

So why would Neville phone him ?

In fact why would Neville phone the police if it would just irritate Sheila more ?

Perhaps June and Neville should have tackled Sheila. Oh sorry June was sleeping.

'You've got to understand. He's not the sort of person to get organisations involved. He likes to keep it in the family. The family name and all that. All the treatment she has been having, it's all private. He doesn't even like the NHS'.

Twenty one years later and a different version emerges.

He said he phoned Witham but there was no reply. Thought police station phones were manned 24/7. Perhaps the officers were having a nap.

Chelmsford rang Witham. Guess what ? The phone was answered.

Jeremy mentions leaving a box of ammunition next to the gun. Probably because he knows the rifle was reloaded.

'Sheila's used guns before'. Later retracted at court.

Jeremy requested that the police let him leave the scene so he can telephone Julie.

To tell Julie 'a police car is coming to pick you up'. He was obviously confident there was 'something wrong at the farm'.

Jeremy was certainly well dressed for August.

A shirt, two jumpers and a jacket.
Why do you think he chose to wear so much clothing, if not merely to stay warm?

Adam I work at a school in the evenings. If I have to phone the police I have a special police number to phone instead of me having to dial 999.
Now I know that Bamber did not have a special number to phone. But his father being a majestrate might have influenced the way he was thinking? Who knows, perhaps at witham the person who picked up the phone might be someone he or his father knew? After all the majestrates court is right next door to the police station, well just behind it. But as I said before, it was around 3 in the morning, he was not properly awake. The police had been awake all night. There was a chill in the air, especially in the countryside at that time. All these factors could have governed Bamber's actions that morning.

I believe that was after the police were there and not the time he called her earlier to inform her that there was something wrong at the farm?

Exactly Neil. We must remember that he had just left a warm house, possibly a warm bed and that that August early morning there was most likely a chill in the air?

Correct. He had still arranged for a police car to pick her up. Hours before the raid team had entered.

Well it could have been the same clothes he wore at the massacre . Several layers of protective clothing would be appropriate. If no blood was spilled there was no reason to change.

Putting on a shirt. Two jumpers and a jacket, does highlight that he was not in a hurry. And concerned about not getting a chill. Perhaps more concerned than Sheila going crazy with a gun.

Then again everyone knows that he was not in a hurry.

Adam, be fair. This part of it wasn't orchestrated by Jeremy. It was suggested to him that he might want to call someone POSSIBLY because they didn't want him there when they broke in.

Bews's  statement said Jeremy requested it.

Which wouldn't surprise me. He had rang her at 3am to let her know 'everything is going well. There is something wrong at the farm'.
