She had written to her son’s killer several times. The last was a few months ago in what she said would be her final letter to him, telling him about her cancer.

Addressing him “Dear Mr Brady” she pleaded: “If you have got it in your heart to tell me where Keith is, it would end the trouble I have had for 47 years.

“I would like him found and buried before anything happens to me.”

Before her death, she had been told about the alleged existence of a letter, apparently given by Brady to Jackie Powell, his mental health advocate, within the last month.

But police now believe the claim may have been a ruse orchestrated by the killer himself.

Bridget  what a sad story.  Brady is pure evil I believe he was born evil and will die evil and has no remorse whatsoever.  The Authorities should not allow him to go on an hunger strike keep him alive as he would like to end his life but that would be too easy.

Hi Girls. I feel very sad at this news. I suppose, like the rest of us, I'd hoped she would be able to bury her boy before she died.........and maybe I was hoping that Brady would show the only piece of humanity and compassion in his otherwise worthless life. What an unmitigated piece of FILTH he is. It's just as well he escaped the death penalty by a matter of weeks. Forcing him to stay alive will have been far harsher punishment. Am I looking for revenge? YOU BET I AM!!!! Revenge for those poor, innocent children he put through hell and revenge for their parents and families who will have lived in hell every day since their children went missing. RIP Winnie.

Had tears in my eyes this morning listening to the report on the television. Such a strong woman who's one shot at life was ruined by someone destroying the deepest of human loves, that of a parent and a child.


Heartbreaking. If there is a heaven, you're with Keith now, Winnie, you found him.

I also cried when I heard this news this morning.
I remember when these murders happened, and the trial, those two would have hanged had they been caught just a little earlier.

Winnie is now with her beloved son. Brady is indeed a monster.
