The firstI I knew of Sheila being on the bed was when I saw photo of Sheila on the bed whilst visiting Ewen Smith at Birmingham. It was not until then that I found out her body was on the bed. I told Jeremy what I had seen and I sent him the photograph along with a short note describing the circumstances of when and how I acquired it. I know what I saw, and I know I sent the photo to Jeremy. Ask Jeremy if you don't believe me when I say what I am saying. I would love to see anyone trying to convince Jeremy that such a photograph does not exist - good luck if any of you intend trying...

Police know full well Sheila's body was on the bed with only one wound. Rhey know she didn't get shot for the second time until later rather than sooner...

DC Hammersley did not find the rifle on top of Sheila's body, it was allocated to him as part of a plan to facilitate the cover up surrounding the true circumstances of Sheila's death...

Hi Bridget,,,that wasn't the one I saw either,,so it just goes to show the difference in what the defence saw,,against what the prosecution showed,,,and sadly this is how it's been and still is.
I wish I could pin-point where I saw it,,but at the time I only made a mental note of the " skeletal " outline.

Bridget,,I did read that on a link about an actual " hand mark " which to my mind includes not so much the palm or flat of the hand,,,but the surrounding area of the hand imprint including fingers,,, because if it had actually been the full palm,,a certain amount of pressure would have had to have been applied to get a full hand. Nevertheless,,,it was a bigger imprint than Sheila's,,,which I can only surmise that it was Nevill meekly trying to apply some sort of force to push her away.
I still can't understand why he didn't knock her cold though. He could have done.
Can you remember if the window that JB was said to have used to get out of the building was actually tested to see if it did indeed lock itself when closed from the outside?

I believe you Mike, I have always believed you saw the photo in Ewens office that day!  Why would you want to lie about that!
The more telling thing is that Ewen stopped taking Jeremys calls after that

Why?
Imagine how Jeremy felt then

Grahame,,,according to the police,,everywhere was locked from the inside,,,probably including a self-locking device if it contained a bolt as well. I would have thought the police would have double-checked on something like that in their searches to see how someone could gain entry and also exit.
I haven't seen anything about such a device,,,but you can mark my words,,the police wouldn't have overlooked it as another way of nailing Jeremy for the crime,,because they've got little else.

It would have been a good thing if they had dismantled the window and used it as an exhibit at the trial. That way the jury would not have had to rely upon statements from certain witnesses alone.

It would have saved a lot of trouble,,Grahame,,and prevented everyone from being at cross purposes,,which in this whole case, has shown no positivity of a bona fide conviction, simply because it's been made up of a lot of guess work,,supposition, and some elaborated and misguided conceptions.   Columbo would have done better.

Is it beyond the realms of reality to think, if questions, relevant to an earlier trial have arisen, and not only require answers, but that answers given could result in a turn around of the jurys' original decision, THAT A RETRIAL WOULD BE IN ORDER. Or perhaps I just have a simple mind.

  • Time to disembark the magical mystery tour...

Tonyb,,the undeniable alibi is the fact that Sheila was still alive inside while Jeremy was outside.
Neither you nor anyone else would deny that Sheila could have tried to shout out who the murderer was,,and certainly would have done had anyone else but herself been involved.
The first instinct that there was an intruder would have been to activate the intruder alarm and smash a couple of windows.? The place was locked and secured from the inside,,,so her mind was made up.
It's been said SC was barking like a dog ( not by me, by the ringmaster )
But, "the undeniable alibi is the fact that Sheila was alive inside while Jeremy was outside"  ????
I think FACT is a little strong. Surely it is not a fact until proven, which it obviously isn't,as JB is still incarcerated,do you not think?

Tonyb,,,going by most of the reports,,,the majority in fact,,it does state that when the police entered the farmhouse at 07.40am that an officer put Sheila in the recovery position. Sorry,,but that would have proved slightly difficult had she been dead from the alleged pre-3am when it was supposed that Jeremy had murdered her. Ever tried manipulating a body that had been dead for at least 6 hours.? Perhaps they should have demonstrated that in court.

What reports are you referring to? None of the officers' statements mention that.

Personally I think it was crispy that was barking like a dog, if barking was heard. The obvious candidate for....er....barking.
I thought that the time factor was a far more reasonable theory. That Sheila's body was indeed moved at least as much as they said it was and for them to have been able to have done that, then it would mean that she had not been dead for more than 3 hours. As the police broke in at say 8am then that puts her time of death at around 5am. At 5am Jeremy was outside with the police. If she had died just before JB called the police then that means at 8am her body would have been as stiff as a board. Her death is put by some at around 7 -7.30am. That would mean that JB is innocent. If of course all that is true?

It's not that it's untrue, but RM isn't an exact science. It can take 2-6 hours to start but then it spreads gradually over a period of some 4-6 hours. So, if Sheila had been killed at around 3am, and we assume RM started after 3 hours, she may not have been "stiff as a board" until between 10am and midday. It's a horrible question to ask, but how stiff do bodies actually go?

Well if my cat is anything to go by you could stand him up on his side and lean him against a wall. I though RM took 2-4 hours? Sheila's body was not all that large and she was quite thin. But looking at her skin colour (I know they are not very clear photos) I would say that her body was not yet in rigor. But of course others would disagree.

Its not as easy as it sounds many factors will increase / slow the process, Age, Height, Weight, medical condition, Location of death. In this case from what i have seen of the deceased im certain Nevill and June have been dead some time, Sheila later on.
