I think also colin had little regard for june ,  patti has mentioned a page or two from the book  about them sunbathing nude yet when they got back to the house nevill saw the funny side of it, is it possible colin had had enough of june rather than sheila ?

Bridget, You're unlikely to to find mention of June's "obsession with sex" mentioned. It comes from what I've read, what I've been told and my observations as to how she is portrayed as raising her daughter. It is not so much a condemnation as an acknowledgement that she was a troubled woman.

Hi april...form what I gather June ruled and that was it....Colin said that the family portrayed themselves differently when in public and, that no one knew the real them behind closed doors. :) :)

Quite frankly I think the whole of modern society is obsessed with sex. She just had an obsession with it as being dirty and sinful outside of marriage.

I think that tells us she regarded sex as generally distasteful. I'm not sure how, within the space of time it takes to unite people in marriage, an act seen as dirty and sinful can become pure and beautiful.

There is always two sides patti, June did rule end of, i dont know if jeremy is a man of religion then and now,my gut feeling he was not because if he was he would recieve the same stern bible bashing sheila and the boys did, sheila did believe and that left her open to the wrath of june.

Patti, how strange!!! You could be describing my family!!!! My mother ruled, and she had the same need to control (and demand absolute obedience from me) as I suspect June had of Sheila.

Mertol did you feel that Sheila was very religious according Collin's book? They were both into Tarot and I believe Colin still is. :)

Apparently when children are at a very young age that is when they learn the most and it is usually the mother who imparts the most useful information to them?

Grahame, you are exactly correct. The Jesuits say "Give me the child at (6, I think) and I will give you the man) Thus, whatever baggage Mummy is carrying gets passed to her child and whatever bad habits she has imparted are almost impossible for teachers to rectify.

I do patti in regards to sheila , however june had a lot to do with that, and when june passed her worship for god to the boys this seems to when the trouble started , with colin i think also today yes he does believe , colin did seek help for a seance to contact sheila did he not ? but with colin i feel he had little control when the boys were there , those drawings the boys did speak for themselves.

Aww, sorry to hear that april, I hope I haven't upset you. I just get the feeling that is the reason Sheila and Jeremy left home in their early teens. Jeremy left home at 16 and only lived at WHF for 3 months since he was 16...I'm not sure what age Sheila left home, but she was living with Colin from being 17...

april I would love to ask you a few questions, but I wouldn't want to offend you...:)

Mertol, I suspect, in the case where there are two children and the mother exerts control over one, the other gets let off the hook, yet rather than seeing it as a good thing, it often results in the child feeling ignored and uncared for.

What an astute insight, Mertol.
