OMG HME, that's awful.  I remember it coming on the news that night, it ws an appalling crime there's no doubt about that and it's not surprising your mum feels the way she does.  However, for true satisfaction surely it's important to be totally sure the right person/people are in prison and taking the punishment.  Where's the justice if there's doubt they have the right man?  It should be in everyone's interests to need to get to the truth of the matter.

Her uncle was in bed with the flu, he heard this loud noise got out of bed and reached the door when a seat of the plane crashed through the window and landed on his bed!  The garden was covered with miniature bottles.  A lot more gruesome stuff too. The noise he heard was part of the fuselage which passed through his and neighbour's house and crashed into an elderly lady's house opposite - she survived that but died next day from shock.  He died soon after too.  At the time the doctor said that he expected there would be a lot of uexplained deaths.

I remember the incident which was a major event in the late 80's.  Lybia at the time was viewed as pariah.  I remember the allied bombing of Lybia in '86 aqnd the Yvonne Fletcher incident in '83.  There was also something about arms deals to the IRA.  I bet Gaddafi was glad when Saddam took the heat off him.

I was in Asia when they bombed Libya.  Gaddafy claimed his adopted daughter was killed and I couldn't understand at the time why the west thought that was ok. I was young and idealistic and had some idea we were above such tit for tat killing.  We've seen a hell of a lot of violations by the west since then but we still try to hold the high ground that in some way we are superior and more moral than the rest of the world.  I don't see how we can claim any superiority to any other country and are as guilty as any one else of human rights violations.  With God on our side by Bob Dylan is as true now as it was during the british empire through to the vietnam war.
