" WPC.Jeapes was a trained firearms instructor who had arrived at the scene with the second team of armed officers led by Inspector Montgomery.      At about 7.15am,,,Jeapes saw a rifle leaning against the main bedroom window and made a note of it in her pocketbook.
This is interesting,,,because at that point, no police officers had entered the farmhouse, and neither Jeremy,,Sergeant Bews, or PC.Mayall--------who had all looked through that very same window-----had noticed the gun.        Nobody got to hear about this gun for 19 years because WPC.Jeapes witness statement was conveniently placed in the " Undisclosed Material " file.

Hi Lookout, is there a statement from her? I have read that many I tend to forget....I know the story, but I have never checked it out....:))

Hi Patti,,,,chances are that her statement, along with heaps of others, were destroyed 10 years after the murders,as the case was deemed to be " cut and dried ".
The same is done with NHS case-notes from deceased persons,,,until a big enquiry comes along, even 10+ years hence, then they're sunk. Particularly those destroyed before the computer came into being. Whether the police force used a micro-fiche then,I wouldn't know. If they did, then all records would/should be held. If not, then files/documents won't be around.

Rubbish, such sweeping nonesense does nothing but serve to confuse.

Yes one of her statements is on the forum, I'll see if I can dig it out and provide you with a link, unless someone beats me to it.

Well, police radio logs confirm a female body was found in the kitchen upon entry (7.37am), also that by 7.45am police were were dealing with two dies (7.41am), a murder and a suicide. Then at (8.44am) Sheila's body is on the bed, or if you want  "on the far side of the bed", which by the time "Taff" Jones and DC Clarke arrive at the scene (9.05am) Sheila's body is on the bed with Junes. Clarke leaves the scene to go to Jeremy's cottage, where he recounts to AE that bodies were found on bed. Meanwhile, back at the scene police who were carrying out a training exercise with the bodies still in situ, moved the bodies from the bed to the bedroom floor. Niether Clarke who was at Jeremy's cottage, nor the relatives knew that police had moved the bodies from the bed, at the time the bodies were moved, they did not learn about the movement of the bodies until later. By then of course, SOC were handed back control of the scene (10am) by which stage Junes and Sheila's bodies were already moved from the bed to the floor. The bodies were placed there by police officers egaged in the aforentioned training exercise. At this point, PC Bird started to take photographs of the bodies in the positions the bodies had been moved into by the police during the training exercise. The rifle which WPC Julia Jeapes had seen leaning p against the bedroom window before the raid team entered the farmhouse, was then put on Sheila's body in various positions. These photographs were then shown to members of the raid team at a debriefing held at Witham police station later that same evening, and they were instructed by senior officers to write up their notes on the basis that they had been dealing with four murders and a suicide, and that the position of the bodies shown to them in PC Birds video at the debriefing should be how the bodies had been found upon entry - which became a bone of contention for PS Adams, who raised objections with the senior officers about this, but they ordered him to toe the line...

It should be pointed out that at this stage police did not anticipate arresting anyone else in connection with the shootings, and this should be borne in mind when a month or so later Jeremy Bamber became the focus of attention, under an investigation led by the relatives friend DCS "Mick" Ainsley...

It should also be noted that the contents of police radio messages from the scene were passed to the control room by CA07, and so those responsible for relaying this information to the control room must have heard or been told the same or learned the same by another source, which the occupants of CA07 fail to want to talk about, or make a statement or a report about...

Thanks for that Hartley. So she says she saw a gun in that window on the grey clad side...red/white side of the building....Her in this photograph confirms this to be the box....Could this box room be disputed? For there is another statement by one of the raid team, that they also saw a gun upstairs in a room....this could be the same gun???????

There was also a gun found upstairs by the family, I do believe this to be Nevill's gun...and that this room was locked at the time when the raid team were upstairs. :)

The position of WPC Julia Jeapes at the corner of red / white which also afforded her a view of the grey cladded part of the house, also offered her a view of the main bedroom window, which was the window that she saw the rifle leaning up against:-

Hi Mike if she is viewing the kitchen window, then how can she see the main bedroom window. Jeapes says she sees the door, and a light on the right of that door which she believes was the kitchen, then on the clad side which is typed us a box room in the archives, she says she saw a gun leaned at the window.

Reason I am querying this is that I thought that room was the twins room.....but it is marked up in the archives as being a box room....When I read a statement from another raid team officer....He describes the light on in the bathroom. the middle of the house 1st floor and on the left side which was the twins room.....

If she is saying she saw a gun in the box room....how could she if the lights were off? I am confused here....:)

Oh yes she is ...  :)

No she aint, because there is no window at the corner of white / red, the only window at corner of white red is the main bedroom window, she would have referred to the box room window as being on the white side of the building...

All this talk makes me want to go and see the house. It is very hard to get a good understanding of it.
