There should have been two loose bullets found in the childrens bedroom, but there was only one. How could there be 8 bullet cases found in that bedroom, yet there only ae 7 bullets, accounted for?

One bullet was missing from the kids bedroom, and a bullet case without a corresponding bullet...

What exhibit reference was given to this cartridge case, if any?

Had to look at these to make sense of what I'm being told.

Shot 1 could be independent of the sequence, but the other shots are a sequence and should be viewed 5 to 2, with 5 being the first of the sequence.

The shooter fixes stance + target, shoots, allows recoil adjustment (which slightly raises gun) just sufficient to move the shot slightly above (but still in the target area) then shoots again. So on, in a sequence.
A good shooter could do this while moving closer. The shooter does not change their shoulder/arm/grip stance at all.
It's about timing. You have to know gun timing -  more specifically, the recoil of the gun you are using - to get this arc.

Or you are very very lucky.

Ive been thinking about this "arc" of shots. Is it at all possible that that the child had a spasm in response to the first shot, and that is how subsequent shots formed an arc?

Well I am going to use a recent case, from Cumbria.

well bird, shoot one of his targets 11 times with a .22lr and the police found 15 different exit and entry wounds to his body!

So things don't change even now!

500ml of Chloroform is next :P
