Please note the date (13th September 1985) of these test firings of the rifle, silencer and control ammunition, and bear in mind that the ballistic expert, Fletcher has made a statement saying that he did not test fire rifle (18) with use of control ammunition fired through the silencer until on and after 20th September 1985? Let us set the record straight - silencer (2) found by relatives was not submitted to the lab' until 20th September 12985, so the ballistic expert could not very well have had that silencer (2) through which to carry out the unofficial test firing of rifle 18 and control ammunition...

Yes, MDF - the ballistic expert, Malcolm David Fletcher, dated, 13th September 1985. That's 7 days before Fletcher does the official test fire of rifle (18) DRH/15, silencer and control ammunition between 20th September 1985 and 2nd October 1985. Ballistic expert made notes saying that prior to carrying out of the official test fire which commenced on 20th September 1985, he did not know when rifle (18) had last been fired, but clearly he did because on 13th September he had test fired the rifle, and silencer with a quantity of control ammunition which enabled him to produce samples of bullet and cartridge case with markings on, relating to a round fired and ejected via the rifle minus the silencer, and another round fired via the rifle with the silencer fitted? These tests (13th September 1985) are what I refer to as the unofficial test fire of rifle (18), because obviously it was done prior to 20th September 1985...

It also helps to explain the disappearance of two control bullets from the batch of 29 rounds seized from the kitchen worktop - since only 27 of the 29 were accounted for during the official test fire commencing 20th September...

Can you explain this a bit further Mike please....I don't understand the significance of the two bullets. Looking at the document relating to the unofficial test fire on 13th September. According to this hasn't the rifle been test fired at least for times?
