They are thugs in uniform Bob that are a clear and present danger to us all, if i saw a copper been beat up in the street sorry i would carry on walking an evil bunch trained to lie.
You prefer some form of anarchic state then, where we have nobody enforcing the law?

This country was on high alert after the 7/7 bombings, so i can unnderstand the police shooting jcd'm.

there had also been a failed bombing attempt the previous day.

The police have made some ghastly mistakes in the past, but what would our society be like without them? i dread to think.

Andrea you raise a point worth answering  right now i would feel safer in New York than here, i have a friend in upper new york state he says britain is becoming a very violent country, the answers are not too far away, take any police force and you will find rubbish employed, what message does that project on society? a free for all, in the riots last year for a day or two law and order collapsed, we have recieved our 1st and last warning, and all we hear is lessons have been learned, when do the lessons stop??

Nah,not a job i would like, but im glad we have them.

in some countries vandalise a car and you will be dead within the hour, we never get to know, we need that here, a military state the only option now, if you read about the black vans in china you will not like what you read  perhaps that is the way forward once we leave the insane eu.

Mertol - why should the opinion of your friend in NYC who thinks Britain is becoming a very violent country, be more valid than the opinion of those of us who live here?

US murder rate per 100,000 people per year: 5..00
UK murder rate per 100,000 people per year: 1.17

I know where I feel safer.

Would you want to live in a country like that? i wouldnt.

Its the government and the courts that need to get tough, not the police. The police do their jobs by catching the criminals, then the courts let us down by sending them off with a slap on the wrist.

Didnt they see him visiting the actual flat where the  terrorists were living?

I havent said it was right what the police did, but they have a decision to make based on the evidence they had at that time.
Bit like in Jeremy's case you mean? Well the police actually said they made a mistake at the time because they were following the wrong bloke. Then they tried to justify this by saying that he had been seen visiting these terrorists. But that was as you would of course a cover up to mask their obvious mistake. Coppers are fond of do a bit of cover up policing aren't they?

Because he thinks its true and i think it is, the population of the USA is huge, were poor means poor , i have a friend in Newark NJ parts look as a a bomb has hit, they are all in it there is more money to be made slapping on the wrist as with Jeremy he is a fall guy appointed to go down , i was accused and arrested for a crime i did not commit put in a cell had a asthma attack, released without charge the same day all because someone called them and would not give their name, when i see a copper been beaten or stabbed to hell with them i dont care.

I'd like to believe that if I saw someone being attacked in the street, even if that person was my enemy I would do what I could to defend them?

That would all depend on what my worse enemy had done :P
