EP attempted to pass the buck to Jeremy for the mess they made of this investigation. It was Jeremy's fault, they claimed, because he cleverly misled us.

What nonsense! EP tore up the rule book at WHF. They abandoned the essential standard procedures that govern murder inquiries and evidence gathering. Far too many officers trampled all over the scene, mishandling, contaminating and destroying evidence. Officers who larked about disrespectfully when photographs were taken illustrate all too clearly the negligent approach to this investigation. For goodness sake, EP officers even failed to wear gloves and picked up exhibits without wearing these!

EP behaved like the Keystone Cops at WHF, making a laughing stock of Essex Police. Later, when the press challenged EP and suggested they were incompetent, EP outrageously claimed that their incompetence was largely Jeremy's fault!

Yeah...

blame Jeremy for everything - except pii...

Was this the only thing EP did not blame Jeremy for?

Well, if you accept the proposition that Sheila was shot for the second time, after the police had got into the bedroom, and you could bring yourself to accept that the substituted bullet (PV/20) has got something to do with how and under what circumstances she was shot, by which gun, where and when, and you accept that Jeremy complained to PC Oliver at the scene after Jeremy had been told that all his family were dead, that he (Jeremy) accused the police who had gone into the house of shooting them all dead, but the truth of the matter is/was that the police did not shoot all the family dead, but they did play some role in Sheila being shot for the second time under the chin, you could say that even if the police played some role in Sheila being shot for the second time after the police got into the farmhouse, it looks like the police would be blaming Jeremy for that fact, they would not take responsibility publicly for that having occurred, the police will not admit to anything, that is the nature of the beast we are dealing with...

Jeremy got and gets the blame for everything because he was mad, evil and clever...

If Jeremy is not mad, and he is not evil, and he is not clever, the police would blame him for everything anyway...

At the end of the day, if Sheila was not shot under the chin until after the police had an opportunity inside the farmhouse (downstairs) to incapacitate her, and or to prevent her from being shot further, then of course the police are responsible for her death, particularly if the second shot under the chin was inflicted or received later on in the bedroom, whilst a training exercise or fooling around with the gun and the body took place...

I know for a fact that there exists photographs of Sheila on the bed, and she only had one wound to her neck with no blood running from the corners of her mouth, so nobody needs to persuade me, or convince me what took place in so far as the fact that Sheila was shot for the second time after the firearms officers supposedly left the scene at just around 9am...

There's a lot of truth in this. Isn't that also why we have the extraordinary situation of the Chief Constable of Essex - as pointed out by Andrew Hunter MP during the parliamentary debate on Jeremy's case - refusing to give the defence copies of key documents which the defence should have been given years ago?

Jeremy got and gets the blame for everything because he was mad, evil and clever...

So EP and the press and media claimed. Jeremy was effectively smeared by the police, the press and media.

Yet I seem to recall that all mention of 'School Dinners' (the patron 'chastisement' club where Sheila worked), of the glamour parties with lines of coke on the tables that Sheila attended and of the champagne lifestyle that Sheila lived was censored by the red tops who blackened Jeremy's character.

Why were the police, press and media so intent on presenting such biased and one sided views of Jeremy and such censored views of Sheila?

If this case turns out to be a huge MOJ I wonder what the final bill will be

Prison board and lodging
Cost of trial
Cost of barrister and solicitors
Cost of appeals
Cost of head doctors
Compensation
Cost of work by CCRC

Probably millions and all the time Sheila did it
"PRISON BOARD & LODGINGS"
JB,if released may have to pay for that out of any compensation if he's found wrongly convicted? I remember this happening in the Carl Bridgewater case. Vincent Hickey tried and failed to overturn the attachment to the compensation & failed. i'm fairly sure this is correct, Sick but correct.

It is indeed sick to unjustly lock a man up for many years then to force him to pay for the cost of his false imprisonment.

The school Dinners restaurant was not a seedy place at all, it was pretty swanky (or at least marketed like that) - it is true that the waitresses were dressed in school uniform and would sit on the diners lap and feed them jelly, spotted dick etc. but thats as far as it went, the clients were mostly business men from the City - Our company used to supply the restaurant with wine in 1985.......

"We sat at our table wearing plastic bibs...Party games followed the meal. First off, a nominated member of each table had to get up and do a turn on the Karaoke. The punishment for bad singing was to be caned by one of the waitresses...One of the sexy schoolgirls was brought out to lightly chastise the other winner but, when it came to Ben, Kim handed the cane over to me."

"Dear Mrs Bedworthy [cane wielding matron], we had a great stag night, the stag boy Abraham does not stop talking about the "knee trembler" he had from your head girl Jenny. I look forward to returning as I need a "knee trembler" bad."

(Quote from School Dinners' website)

Claire Powell says the place was notorious for pictures in the press of famous diners being given six of the best by the waitresses.

How is it, everytime I attempt to engage a discussion into garnering support for Jeremy's
freedom, the thread invariably ends with lapdancers or scantily clad women. After hearing about
Jenny's ability to get a blokes knees knocking I'm more depressed now than I was when I woke up
   this morning.

Sorry, Cap'n. But it is an issue. Jeremy's character was blackened many times over by false or misleading claims in the press. Yet never to my knowledge did the press blacken Sheila's character in this manner in the lead up to the trial. Had the press chosen to do so, they could have had a field day with Sheila's life history. But instead Sheila was written of solely as a successful model, which is a claim I don't believe to have been true as Sheila seems to have done very little modelling. I believe the different treatment meted out to Jeremy by the press as opposed to that given to Sheila was indicative of an unfair bias against Jeremy in some sectors of the press.

I agree totally with your sentiments regarding the media. The hansom cad is worth ten times
the value of the vulnerable wretch character. The more a character is blackened the more it sells.
There is something totally immoral in selling made up sleaze dressed as informative news to placate
a disillusioned population that their own lives are not that bad. Soap operas as a way of deferring
a persons attention from how mundane their own lives are is one thing but force feeding it with lies
at the breakfast table or on the train is another. I don't read newspapers that much now. I personally
think there days are numbered in relation to made up trash. People want the escapism through
celebrity, glitz and glamour. Me, I'll just settle for a lapdancer dressed in a St Trinians uniform saying
" Should we redecorate this room or have you got a better idea" !
