possibly taken out of context then, a simple misunderstanding?

Possibly a misunderstanding.  However I know Jackie was given the distinct impression that the campaign team did not initially take Simon McKay's interest in the case seriously.  Obviously I do not know exactly what happened but it appears that the initial meeting was arranged by Simon directly with Jeremy, with assistance from Jackie.  The decision to instruct Simon was one I know was taken by Jeremy himself, and he did not take it lightly.

Well obviously your intellect cannot cannot contain but simple sentences. Although I admit I am not a wise person. But the words that I wrote were wise words.
Just to add something to my comment. When I was training to be a public speaker I learned something from the writings of J. C. Ryle the Bishop of Liverpool in the 1800's.
He had a very simple maid in his vicarage and he used to preach his sermons to her and if She could follow him and understand what he was saying, then so would his congregation.
I have endeavoured to follow that format whenever there was a call for me to speak in public. So Hartley the facts are evident aren't they? Because I use the simplest of words in whatever I say so that the simplest of people can understand what I say...
Not looking too good for you so far is it Hartley. ::)

What is quite strange here is that the forum is being disrupted by a moderator, I'm not really sure I can advise you as to a possible solution for that one. Perhaps you could pick NGB's brains, he may have some ideas.
What an odd comment Hartley. Not sure I can understand you on that one?

Hmmm okay, lot's of wannabe chiefs and not enough injuns. Mind everything seems to have come right in the end regarding Simon's instruction.

NGB could I please have your input on this. Clearly I have no respect whatsoever for Grahame as a person let alone a moderator on this forum, this appears to have a certain amount of mutual feeling from Grahame judging by his constant insults, snide comments and downright rudeness which has worked its way into the majority of his posts. I am not suggesting that I am without blame, however I do believe that the majority of my comments are in defence.

However, this doesn't solve anything, so I wish to put forward a potential solution. How about NGB has the sole responsibility for moderating my behaviour and posts on the forum, whilst NGB and I often disagree, I do hold a great deal of respect for him, mainly because he is in my experience reasonable and at all times civil. Then Grahame (and I) just need cut out the insults directed at each other, even the sneaky ones veiled in sarcasm that you think may go unnoticed, then stop responding to each others posts. Then it would be normal service resumed and disruption to the forum would be greatly reduced.

That's my proposal anyway.

Yes and I think that demonstrates that Jeremy is still very much in the driving seat in relation to his efforts to secure a fresh appeal, and that is as it should be.  Difficulties seem to arise from the fact that Jeremy has to rely to a large extent upon what he is told about events outside prison.  He has no internet access so is not able to see what is posted here or on facebook or twitter.  He can only speak by telephone to a linited number of people and understandably most of his available time on the phone has to be spent speaking to his campaign office.  Inevitably therefore when Jeremy hears about posts here or messages on facebook or twitter he hears the slant of the person passing on the information.  Understandably sometimes he becomes concerned at what he is told and it is very difficult for him to form an objective view.  I believe that those of us who do speak to Jeremy have a responsibility to be careful to present a fair and factual account.  That has not always happened in my experience.

Yes I can see that the isolation due to his imprisonment must greatly hamper his ability to keep up to speed on things. Even just without the internet many things must take considerably more time to carry out.

Hartley - as you know Grahame and I back each other up in moderating the forum as if there is not mutual trust and support it would become impossible to have any effective moderation.  I know there have been times when Grahame has not agreed with a position I have taken, but he has always backed me.  Likewise there have been times when I may not have made the same decision as Grahame, but again I have backed him.

I am sorry that there appears to have been a breakdown in relations between you and Grahame, especially since until recently you appeared to have respect for each other.  I am sorry that you feel the need to say that you do not have respect for Grahame as a moderator or as a person.  Grahame has been a moderator here for a lot longer than I have and I believe he has done done a good job, at times under a lot of pressure.  Grahame is also a very genuine and humane person and I have considerable respect for him.  I also have respect for you, in that you fight your corner and generally present an strong argument.  Obviously you and I rarely agree but I believe it is good for the forum that arguments are presented which challenge those of us who believe Jeremy to be the victim of a miscarriage of justice.  I appreciate that because you are in a minority here you have often come under attack, sometimes strongly.  You are entitled to defend yourself.  However I do feel that you have on occasions reacted with personal attacks or with posts designed to goad and produce a reaction.

I do not believe we could have a division of responsibility for moderating the forum in the way that you suggest.  Grahame and I must continue (as long as we have the support of Mike) to moderate the forum together.  Sometimes only one of us online.  My wish is that this breakdown in relations should be healed.  Could you not shake hands with Grahame through the ether, and perhaps buy him a cyber pint?

unless the following suggestion made above: Then Grahame (and I) just need cut out the insults directed at each other, even the sneaky ones veiled in sarcasm that you think may go unnoticed ........ can occur, then I unfortunately feel there is little hope.

I do not believe a moderator should be intentionally insulting and goading other members of the forum, regardless as to what has preceded it.

Stemming from our new found civilities, may I ask you a question?

What do you find insulting about what you have posted above, is it the interpretation, or rather insinuation, that you are somehow in the wrong?

Hartley, After all else fails there is always hope.

Both of you should try at least to rise above it!!

After all I believe you are both grown ups  ;D

One should offer the hand of friendship, if the other one turns away, then whilst his back if turned, hit him over the head with a stick  ::)
