The road to peace
« on: November 18, 2025, 07:36:AM »
I really do hope we get peace and help for the Palestinians……… President Donald Trump scored a monumental victory on Monday, when the UN Security Council voted in favor of his 20-point plan for peace in Gaza - which could see troops deployed to the war-torn area.

The plan, which also creates a path for a future Palestinian state, passed the UN on Monday with 13 votes of support. Only Russia and China abstained, and no nation used its veto power.

Israel will never allow a fully-independent Palestinian state. They will even defy President Trump and future American presidents if necessary.

Over 140 of the 193 United Nations member states formally recognize a Palestinian state. This number increased in 2024 and 2025 as a wave of Western nations, traditionally allies of Israel, made the move, often in response to the ongoing war in Gaza and in an effort to keep the two-state solution alive.
Recent Recognitions (2024–2025)
The countries that have formally recognized the State of Palestine since 2024 include:
Andorra
Armenia
Australia
Bahamas
Barbados
Belgium (recognition made, legal effect pending release of hostages/removal of Hamas)
Canada
France
Ireland
Jamaica
Luxembourg
Malta
Mexico (announced March 2025)
Monaco
Norway
Portugal
San Marino
Slovenia
Spain
Trinidad and Tobago
United Kingdom
Countries with Longstanding Recognition
The majority of countries in the Global South (Africa, Asia, and South America), along with several European nations, recognized Palestine decades ago. These include, but are not limited to:
Most Arab League member states (e.g., Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, UAE)
Major world powers (e.g., China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, Turkey)
Several current EU members that took the step before joining the Union (e.g., Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Cyprus)
Sweden (recognized in 2014)

That's the easy part. There would have to be agreement on borders, land swaps. I can't see Israel allowing Palestine to form an army. Let's wait and see.

I think security will be part of the peace agreement Steve, I don’t think they will need an army?

I can't see it, myself, unless there's going to be a UN peacekeeping force stationed permanently on the West Bank.
