Israel has placed strategic buildings amongst civilian areas. So the human shields argument is a bit rich. When Iran slapped Israel in June, some civilian areas were hit as a result of Israel's placement of such strategic buildings.

They have air raid sirens and civilian bomb shelters all over the place.

I can't see how Israel can win ngb. They would have to breach the tunnel system and use flamethrowers. It's too big a task. The IDF are exhausted. Some are committing suicide.

Hamas will not release all the hostages because it knows that once it releases that last hostage that is when Israel will flood those tunnels with seawater from the Mediterranean.

The Israeli regime has never been bothered about the hostages. Ask the families.

As for the med, I hope they and the rich American and Zionist donors enjoy their project.

Do you think there was a connection between the disengagement of Israel on the physical land of Gaza and the October 7 attacks eighteen years later? https://www.npr.org/2025/09/19/g-s1-89192/israel-gaza-withdrawal-2005

Hamas are apparently going to agree to Trumps 20 point peace plan. This includes -

"6. Hamas disarmament
After all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to give up their weapons will be given amnesty. Militants who want to leave Gaza will be given safe passage to receiving countries.

13. Hamas exclusion
Hamas and other factions agree to not have any role in governing Gaza - directly, indirectly or in any form. All "military, terror, and offensive infrastructure, including tunnels and weapon production facilities, will be destroyed and not rebuilt"."

Could Trump win the Nobel Peace Prize – and who else could get it?

It's been really an amazing period of time. So great for Israel, so great for Muslims and the Arab countries.

'You'll see people getting along and Gaza will be rebuilt.'

He continued: 'Gaza, we believe is going to be a much safer place and it's going to be a place that reconstructs and other countries in the area will help it reconstruct because they have tremendous amounts of wealth, and they want to see that happen.

'I'm very confident there'll be peace in the Middle East.'

Will there be a hunt for the Israeli war criminals - or are the coming wars going to numb the world into a grim acceptance?

Do you want peace or do you want revenge Roch?  Could you see anyone hunting Putin.  It’s not going to Happen, putting them sort of demands in place on both sides would never have achieved anything.

Let’s just be thankful that a lot of civilians might be saved and just might have a better future?

Justice for the victims of genocide. I hope they are hunted for the next 50 years. But I think Gaza was a test. They have got away with it so far - so the same tactics can be used by other forces on other areas of the world now. We failed the test. If we don't go after the war criminals, we completely fail the test.

Myself Roch, m just happy that there might be peace at last, putting them sort of conditions on talks would not achieve anything.

At least the people that matter are pleased there is a ceasefire.   Hopefully this is the start of a better life for Palestinians.

Celebrations in Gaza and Israel after deal announced - a recap

Palestinians gathered in the city of Khan Yunis are celebrating after the announcement of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza

With a deal due to be voted on by the Israeli government in a few hours time, here's a quick recap of everything we know so far:
US President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed on the first phase of a deal for Gaza
Palestinians in Gaza and hostage families in Israel have been celebrating the breakthrough, which came after intense negotiations in Egypt
The Israeli government will meet on Thursday at 17:00 Jerusalem time (15:00 BST) to vote on the deal. If the plan is approved a ceasefire will go into immediate effect - the Israeli military says it has already begun preparations to "adjust deployment lines"
The Israeli prime minister's office says that then the 72-hour countdown for the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza to be returned will then begin
The agreement marks a significant moment, our correspondent Hugo Bachega writes, but there is no guarantee it will end the war
