The connection is he is the detective of Margery Allingham, who used to live on South Street, Tolleshunt D'Arcy. No doubt June had one of her books on the shelf.

No, I never did. I do remember Peter Davison in All Creatures Great and Small.

Sr lived very close to Tolleshunt D'Arcy where Marjorie Allingham, author of Campion, lived. Fantastic series, but I don't think Sr looked anything like Peter Davison!
