Have you considered Crispy? The GPO operative did say she could hear loud barking and it appeared the dog was near the receiver.
Ok Cutie, could we just go through this one more time for someone like me who has no grasp of anything technical!
I mean, just what is the official police version regarding the call at 6.09?
Am I right in thinking that the phone was off the hook in the Whitehouse and Milbank was on duty listening in, then at 6.09 the operator linked the open line to a police station by dialling 999?
If so, just a few questions! How did Milbank know it was a 999 call, and why was the operator making a link to another police station if Milbank was already listening in?
Or have I got this wrong? was Milbank simply sitting beside a phone in a police station and the phone rang [999] at 6.09, and he picked it up! And this was actually the operator phoning the police station to link the open line inside the Whitehouse to the police station so that the police could listen in?
If so, was the operator unable to speak to Milbank and explain what she had just done? I mean, how did Milbank know he had been connected to the Whitehouse at that time? Who told him? And, who told him to continue listening in?
I mean, I presume he wasn't just some random copper sitting in a police station like West or Bonnet, unaware of what was taking place at the Whitehouse and just answered the phone? Else he would have just put the phone down again when no one answered, surely??
Can you put me right, Cutie?
