Thanks. Dan! For what its worth, I will tell you what I think happened at the Whitehouse that night.
OK, Sheila has broken down and decided to go on the rampage around 11.00 o'clock on the night of the murders, she heads down to the scullery to find a weapon.
Nevill hears her and goes to investigate, finding her in the kitchen with the Anschutz rifle.
Nevill may have tried to talk Sheila down, who knows, but things went pear shaped and Sheila broke the rifle butt over Nevills head sending him to the floor against the Aga, this is when his back was burned.
There is a chance that Nevill simply had a stroke or heart attack with the stress of the situation and fell against the Aga, but I think the rifle was smashed at this time rather than later on when Nevill was at deaths door and no threat!
Anyhow, Nevill is out cold with probable fractures to his scull around 11.00-12.00? his back being slowly burned and Sheila is now free to go on the rampage.
June is shot first while in bed, but manages to get up after being badly wounded, maybe the rifle had jammed at this stage? she stumbles round the bed after Sheila, but is pushed to the floor and shot in the head after Sheila manages to eject the jammed shell.
Sheila then re-loads the rifle before shooting the boys who only receive head shots, Sheila doesn't want to wound them like June and know what was happening, she couldn't stand them to suffer, so head shots only!
Just what Sheila did next is anyones guess, but we know that letters were found for her birth mother.
Sheila re-loads the rifle again at some stage too.
Nevill comes round again about 3.00 and drags himself onto a chair, badly injured with a cracked skull he can barely stand. As he slowly recovers and remembers what has happened he decides to phone JB and ask him to come over.
When Nevill gets through to JB he simply tells him to come over because Sheila has got hold of a gun, he  only says the neccessary as he wants to get upstairs to see what has happened. Nevill may have missed the phone cradle in his dazed state and left the phone off the hook
Nevill staggers to his feet and slowly stumbles up stairs, shouting out to June.
Sheila grabs hold of the rifle and waits for Nevill to climb the stairs, where he is met with two shots into his face.
Now at deaths door, Nevill tries to retreat, but in his slow state he is an easy target and receives further bullets to his shoulder and arm. Once Nevill eventually reaches the kitchen again he can only stumble onto a chair exhausted and in severe pain.
Sheila enters the kitchen and Nevill holds up his one good arm in defence, Sheila prods him in the arm with the rifle barrel causing many cuts and bruises, she also whacks him on the shoulders with the flat of the barrel.
Nevills watch is hooked off at this stage, the lamp shade may have been smashed earlier on when Nevill was knocked out.
Anyway, Nevill eventually trips up over his pyjama bottoms and stumbles onto the side of a chair, his head falling forward into the scuttle as he looses conciousness from his injuries.
Sheila is now free to shoot Nevill in the head and make sure that he is dead like the others.
Just when Sheila shot herself I do not know!
So this is roughly what I think must have happened, Dan!
The burns were formed sometime between 11.00-3.00 while Nevill was knocked out,he then came round, phoned JB, went upstairs where Sheila shot him before retreating to the kitchen to be finished off, ending up on the chair/scuttle.
Any thoughts?
Nothing stopped Sheila, smashed rifle and all.  Neville jumps up after a heart attack and three hours unconscious, come over Jeremy, by the way I’m ok I’ve only had a heart attack and been unconscious for three hours take your time.

Sheila couldn't function Snow. Either mentally or physically.

She should really still have been an in patient in hospital, where she had spent 8 weeks earlier that year.

Sadly you can't keep her in there for years. Espescially if Nevill & June were paying private care fees.

So, having been out cold for three hours, he slowly recovers, and having had a stroke or heart attack and a fractured skull, gets up and phones JB! By the way, the White House is the presidential residence in America. White House Farm is a  family home in Tolleshunt D'Arcy.

Well it was either or, Jane! Not both!
Either Nevill had a stroke/heart attack or was hit over the head!
I go with Sheila bashing him on the head as it fits the evidence better, there was no point/need to bash him on the head after he retreated to the kitchen later when shot to pieces! besides, the evidence shows he merely held up his one good arm to be prodded at that time before falling into the scuttle.

Well the evidence shows that she must have carried out the shooting if you accept the Aga evidence, Adam!
And take the farewell letters to her birth mother, and we know they were farewell letters because Bill and the CT deciphered them to a fair degree!
I mean, why on earth would Sheila be writing farewell letters unless she intended doing something drastic that very night?
Are we to believe that Sheila was writing farewell letters and JB just happened to kill her a few hours later?
Come on people!

Thank you for your scenario snow.

Don't you think if Sheila had done this to Nevill, Nevill would have called 999 rather than Jeremy?

Well you can argue that, Dan, but who knows? If Nevill had a head injury his thoughts and actions may have been impaired to some degree.
But remember JB was nearer and besides he may have been going to call the police too but thought he better get upstairs to see what the situation was, besides, he didn't know if anyone had been injured at that stage so why call the police?
He may have thought if nothing had happened he could simply get JB to drive him to hospital for any treatment. Who knows what was going through his mind, Dan?

But Snow, you haven't, yet, explained why an adequately medicated Sheila, still around a week away from her next injection, would suddenly succumb to a psychotic episode. To make your theory work, she'd have needed to be having one. I don't think anyone here can imagine Sheila displaying violence. One of the reasons the relatives didn't believe she was responsible for the carnage................apart from her not knowing how to use a gun, that is!

Come on snow, everyone knows that in an emergency you call 999. We get taught it at school. Even my 12 year old daughter would call 999 in the event of an emergency.

I have just asked her and she is surprised that it is even a question.

Incidentally, it was put to Jeremy why didn't he phone 999 when "the phone book said in bold in an emergency call 999"

Ironically, i dont understand why he didn't phone 999.

It wouldn't have caused him any issue either way. I dont understand his reasoning in not doing so. Either way WHF would be ultimately a crime scene swarming with police.

There must have been something about calling 999 that spooked him into not doing so.

But the thought of his 'nutty' sister brandishing a gun and potentially firing it, didn't!?

But the thought of his 'nutty' sister brandishing a gun and potentially firing it, didn't!?

I am talking from his perspective of stage 2 of his plan.

When at bourtree he could have phoned 999 instead of looking up the number for Chelmsford Police.

He is not incriminating himself by phoning 999, if anything he is bolstering his stance of the " concerned son " by ringing 999. He was scathed upon for looking up a police station in the phonebook.

So you have to ask yourself why was he from his perspective hesitant to phone 999. Or why he didn't phone 999. There must be a reason why he didn't.

The farm would be swaming with police eventually anyway.

His reasons to Bews was " i didn't think it would make any difference " and " i dont know how your system works"

Let's take it from the mindset that he knew exactly how the system worked and 999 would achieve a quicker response.
