Always had the theory of Nevill brushing Bamber out of the way.

I did suggest Nevill could have exited via the box room. It was 2 feet from his side of the bed & WHF does have 3 stair cases.

However the X's in the diagram show he was shot on the landing/stairs outside the main bedroom door.

Why would Bamber shoot a moving Nevill twice on the landing/stairs, then go back into the bedroom & shoot June 5 times?

This gives Bamber's biggest threat Nevill, a huge head start in a 1 storey building. Time to get downstairs and get a weapon.

Huge start? Shot four times with his wife grandchildren, and daughter upstairs with a murderous gunman.

Just take the blinkers of it for a second and imagine the situation. " what the fuck is going on" " what the fuck " imagine trying to process a gunman firing at you in the early hours of a Wednesday morning.

Bambers going back into the bedroom to shoot June 5 times is not a far or difficult feat and could be done very quickly.

Nevill is going nowhere fast. He had been shot four times. Once Bamber shoots June he's onto to NB.

Nevill was 61 years of age.

He had just worked hours previously a 14 hour shift.

I believe he was awake, but nevertheless he would have been lethargic, sleepy, and caught unaware.

His assailantt is 40 years younger and with the element if suprise in his favour.

Even with my belief that Nevill was awake in that house he still had little time to process things. I don't think he went to bed that night thinking " my son is going to come round and get the .22 and kill us all "

Jeremy will want to kill June ASAP.

If he goes downstairs to sort Nevill out and leaves her. It gives June the opportunity to get on the office phone.

We have different scenarios after Bamber had shot Nevill twice on the stairs/landing.

You have him going back into the bedroom to shoot June 5 times in 5 different locations. Leaving Nevill to go downstairs and get a weapon.

I have Bamber right behind Nevill prior to the kitchen attack. June had already been shot 5 times.

I thought Nevill spent 10 minutes fighting Bamber in the kitchen.

Now he is 61 years old and tired after work.

He no doubt put up a big fight but succumbed. Bamber had shot him four times prior the fight commencement.

If Jeremy isn't wearing a mask Nevill knows for sure the assailant.

Imagine in that moment with everything going on the sense of betrayal what would be going through Nevills mind. It's his pride and joy the son who he adopted from six months of age, who he still kept Gresham school monumenteos and receipts of proudly in his office to reminisce about. For all the faults in the case the two men were close and had a bond.

Nevill was probably at the same time as fighting for his life was in truly disbelief and bewildered.

If we're to believe BW account, his premonition which he thought of some months prior had come true.

A mind boggling situation.

And yet we're given to understand such wasn't entirely true. Nevill may have had moments when he believed JB was 'shaing' up -and undoubtedly such moments bought relief and pleasure- but I suspect, for the most part the doubts, he worked hard to suppress, remained.

But the pain would have been there and the immense sense of betrayal.

Without going theoretical on the subject. This was his son who he had adopted in a baby in arms, who he had made sacrifices for. Who he had hoped would take over the reigns one day etc etc Al.

Even though he may have privately harboured great suspicion about Bamber at the very moment he realised his beloved son was trying to kill him the turmoil must have been beyond comprehension.

Michael Deckers WS confirmed the two men were close and had a bond.

Disappointment and pain are frequent companions. Both would have been off the scale if he'd known who was his assailant.

Jeremy had long since desisted from regarding the adopted son as his pride and joy. He had become wary, fearful, as he told farm secretary Barbara Wilson: "I must never turn my back on that young man." Additionally the shooting season was approaching, and "accidents do happen." Unable to confide in his sick spouse he turned to farm friend John Seward as confidant, who inquired why he just didn't throw the man out?

"June wouldn't let me", came the pitiful reply.

There was much keeping up appearances as a family, presenting a united front to the outside world. As we now know from the literature on the case this was far from the truth, and one could even say in retrospect they had greater problems by far than most in the 1980s had to face.
