OK Cutie!
But why didn't they go and pick up the sights and silencer once they knew of their existence?
Especially after AP said they were fitted on the rifle the week before the murders?

Why would they?  EP did not see any relevance in the sights and silencer.  So what...both are add-ons and attach and detach.

Even after the lab examined the silencer on the 13th Aug and confirmed the blood on the outside was in fact blood and human in origin they didn't reinterview Bamber.  Everything on the outside is tenuous at best.  It is only when it is set against the inside that it becomes compelling circumstantial!

Fitted 'a week' before - so why would they think something that happened a week ago was relevant on the night of the murders when they had the weapon laid across the body of who they thought was the perpetrator?

God dammit, thats a very good point Cutie!
What came first, Sheilas blood found inside the silencer or Julie going to the police?
I have never thought about the actual order of events before!
What date did the police find out about the blood in the silencer pointing to Sheila's murder?
And if it was before Julie came forward, what action did they take?
Was the blood found before the Kenneally report?

Because AP told them that once fitted sights were rarely removed Zoso!
Surely hinting that the killer removed the sights for close shooting !

But they weren't on a rifle in a case that had been called a 4 murders and a suicide! If the suicide has the rifle on top of them, they are hardly going to think of checking on something that doesn't appear to be part of the CS. Lots of questions that only Taff could answer - it was his call and his guns that the call was stuck to.

When did the police find out that it was Sheila's blood inside the silencer Zoso?

It seems it wasn't until the 13th of sept or shortly after, that a biologist wanted to examine the baffles of the silencer for blood, this was after it was re-admitted for testing around the end of Aug.
This was after Julie went to the police and after Bambers first police interview!
Apparently the inside wasn't tested when the silencer was first examined around 13th Aug,only the outside for some reason before being taken elsewhere for fingerprinting!
So,anyway,it wasn't until Julie went to the police that the baffles were tested and Sheila's blood grouping was found!
Mmmmmm!!

Kenneally's report was round about the 6th of sept, concluding that Sheila killed her family.
So Sheila's blood allegedly found in the silencer about a week later was very handy in proving his conclusion wrong and Julie's story about JB correct!

Are you suggesting it might not have been Sheila's blood ??

There's no evidence anyone's blood, including SC's, was ever inside the silencer.  A lab producing a set of test results that matched SC's blood groups is not evidence that her blood was inside the silencer.

Cutie has given you an answer Dan!
Why do you think the baffles/inside of the silencer wasn't tested until around the 13th Sept?

I believe it was the 14th, yes.

13th Aug - Forensic examination of the OUTSIDE of the silencer
14th Sep -     "               "           "   "   INSIDE     "  "       "

Given Glynnis Howard's initial examination of the outside involved pushing cotton threads down into the aperture to remove blood for testing it makes you wonder why she didn't take it upon herself to examine the inside.  Or take it to the ballistics dept.
