I have always thought it was noteworthy that DS Jones did not question JB about the silencer?  And it didn't come up in JM's interviews either.

The silencer was used. It was a silent massacre attempt & it was a virtual permanent fixture on the rifle anyway.

Sheila's blood, the aga paint & a grey hair ended up on it. It was also damaged.

After shooting Sheila he had to go downstairs anyway. So took the silencer with him. Putting it back in it's box in the gun cupboard.

Yes she did say that in her COLP '91 statement.  But the fact remains in her Sept '85 stat she said JB phoned Witham and asked to speak with DS Jones re the contents of the wallet.  She then said "I do not know what Jeremy established from the police". 

If, as you claim, there was some innocent explanation by way of the relatives/Basil Cock taking the contents of the wallet there was no need for her to allow JB to make such a phone call.  When JB said NB's wallet was missing and/or the contents she would have said 'Oh Jeremy we were asked by Basil Cock to gather up cash and he has it'.

He did phone Witham and did ask to speak to Jones and she didn't know what Jones said to him - so what? That doesn't mean they didn't give it to Basil, just that they didn't tell Jeremy!

Your suggestion that it must have been Jones that went around searching through Nevill's pockets is ridiculous. Why someone didn't say something at the time, is for them to reveal. I don't want to speculate  as to why they did or didn't do something - to be honest, I don't really care. From what we know of Ann, if she thought Jones took the cash, she wouldn't have been happy. Also, did Jones steal Nevill's credit cards too and the wallet? Nah!
