People will go for the quicker easiest option.

No chance of anyone clocking him at 2am.

Obviously the sea wall being populated made it a none starter.

Coupled with it being pitch black.

The car being the best practical option.

Please don't play the idiot again.

You know there was sufficient lighting in an open area with a 64% moon and stars.

You know the wild pensioner parties at Osea Leisure Park wouldn't branch out 5 miles.

It's too risky to use the car. He either walked or cycled.

No benefit in driving the Brook House Farm route.

He could cycle it in 12 minutes!

Don't know why people think using a car at 2am in rural Essex is " risky "

I could literally drive down my street now in my van and probably not be seen.

No one is going to be awoken by a car engine or a car driving away.

No one is going to be window watching at 2am

Nobody is going to ID Bamber in his car whether they are a pedestrian or in a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction

Security cameras will not give a positive visual ID

I'm looking at the street view here: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/147322028#/streetView?channel=RES_BUY

I think it's too risky, whilst the alternatives are less so.

Security cameras could ID the vehicle make. Too much of a coincidence if it's an Astra.

Awake residents of Head Street may hear a vehicle and look outside.

As you said, the car breaking down would incriminate him.

If he was going via Brook House Farm, he would cycle. Silent, invisible, 12 minutes, minimal energy, perfect terrain, options if the bike conks out.

Not feasible, the grainy image will just make the outline of a car

Agree the car breaking down and he is fucked.

Don't agree that people would be up looking out of the window at am.

Don't believe the turning of an engine would get someone out of bed. It certainly wouldn't me

Mike drives through Tolleshunt D'arcy.

Bamber would have turned right off Maldon Road before getting to TD. To cycle the Brook House Farm (BHF) track.

This reduces the distance by 1661 metres/over 1 mile according to Wilkinson. It also means he is not cycling past multiple properties.

The BHF track is as good as Pages Lane.

Once at the end of the BHF track he arrives on the B1023.  Pages Lane is 160 metres to the right.

Mike drives it in 7 minutes.

Suspect Bamber could cycle it in 12 minutes. His journey would be over 1 mile less.

Too risky. No benefit in driving.

Minimal time and energy cycling The Sea Wall or Brook House Farm route. Also silent and invisible.

Bamber bringing the bike over just before the massacre.

Is there a source that the police interviewed 500 people regarding seeing Bamber drive?

Suspect these would just be the people that lived in Goldhanger & Maldon Road before Tolleshunt D'arcy.

Wilkinson says 579 people lived in Goldhanger.
