« on: November 27, 2023, 11:14:PM »
Is there much info available about the guy who heard gun shots on the night of the murders?
Has anyone seen his statement?

The soc is situated in rural Essex and surrounded by neighbouring farms and those who use firearms.  The sound of gunfire carries.

There's no evidence of any firearm discharge at the soc other than those discharged during the murders.

Do you think the shots fired in the bedroom could have been heard out of the open window?

Impossible to hear the rifle inside another WHF room. With or without silencer. It was a low powered rifle.

The evidence is the silencer was used. It was a silent massacre attempt. So barely audible if in the same room.

So you are saying it was impossible for Smith to hear the rifle shots through the open bedroom window about a mile away Adam?

Yes,and in Cals.I dont think he is mentioned in Wilkes, but he may be.

Lomax says Smith heard shots just before midnight coming from the direction of WHF while walking his dog,he lived in Tollesbury Road, where exactly I dont know.

Cal says the true account is that Smith heard one shot between 9.30 and 10.05.coming from the direction of the village playing field,I presume in Tollesbury.
I dont know where either author got their info from, but as said,Cal claims she has the true account.

Seems strange that Smiths statement isn't available, whether the CT have seen it I dont know.Lomax discussed the issue with Bamber,so they may have seen a statement. But why the two different times,Cal 9.30-10.05 while Lomax just before 12.00.That is why I would like to see Smiths statement.

As for hearing the shots, that depends on a number of factors, the silencer would bring the decibels down from around 140 decibels to 115 and the subsonic ammo would bring the sound down further.

In optimum conditions a .22 rifle shot can be heard about two miles away,so who knows Adam?
As I say,we would need to know exactly what Smith told the police.Cant see why he would run to the police if he thought the shot/s came from the village playing field though.

The rifle is not audible outside of the room it is fired on. With or without a silencer.

Is that a fact Adam? NGB may be better placed to give information about the loudness of .22 gun shots,he seems to be the resident expert on firearms.I myself wouldn't have a clue, can only go by what I have read on the web as a rough guide.
