OK,for this scenario we will include the silencer being used by Sheila then returned to the gun cupboard before she commits suicide.
Right,Sheila decides to kill her family then end her own life,she waits till everyone is in bed then sneaks down stairs to get the rifle.Nevill has returned the weapon to the gun cupboard,so Sheila gets the rifle and magazine,but thinks she also needs bullets too not realizing that the magazine is already loaded.
Sheila takes out the box with the ammo and takes five bullets,one for each person.Well,if your going to shoot someone,most of us would imagine that one bullet will be enough to kill them,right? You wouldn't generally think it would take several shots to kill someone,would you? Of course not,you point the gun and fire expecting the victim to drop dead after one shot.And no doubt Sheila had the same idea in mind.
But alas,the rifle wasn't in the same class as a magnum .44 and this is why Sheila had such a problem killing June.
Anyway,Sheila also sees the silencer in the box of ammo and decides to use it too,who knows,she may have always intended to use the silencer hoping none of the victims would wake up.No reason to think Bamber was the only one who would have used the silencer anyway,is there?
So,Sheila takes everything through to the kitchen and prepares to load the magazine but duly notices this has already been done,by this time she notices the shells on the work top so puts the five she has taken from the den down beside them,this will leave thirty bullets once the shooting is done.
Nevill has heard Sheila go down stairs and finds her in the kitchen.Now what happens next is anyones guess,they may have talked a while or Sheila may have instantly attacked Nevill.The gun may not have been ready to fire when Nevill entered the kitchen,maybe the magazine had not been inserted at that time.But,for whatever reason,Sheila struck Nevill with the stock of the rifle and sent him crashing to the floor in front of the Aga,the lamp shade is smashed at this time.Sheila steps round beside Nevill and tries to strike him again but the silencer hits the underside of the mantelpiece deflecting the rifle which comes smashing down and hits the heavy metal Aga splitting the stock and breaking a piece off.
Nevill is motionless and Sheila stops the beating,she may have thought he was dead.
Sheila readies the rifle and heads up stairs,she will deal with June first to save any interference when shooting the boys.
Sheila enters the bedroom and shoots June in the chest as she sits up in bed,but this does not kill June who attempts to get up,Sheila shoots again,but June keeps moving and shouting at Sheila while holding her arm up to sheild herself.Sheila shoots June again and again but only hits her arm and knee.
June lunges at Sheila and a fight for the rifle ensues around the bed and back,June digs her nails in to Sheilas arm causing profuse bleeding.Sheila manages to grab a severely weakened June by the throat and push her to the floor,she now realizes that only a shot to the head is going to kill her,so June recieves two shots to the head while lying semi- concious by the bedroom door.
Sheila isn't going to make the same mistake with the twins,they will recieve head shots only,she doesn't want to wound them and make them suffer or possibly run away, so she decides to re-load before going to the twins room. Sheila had all the time in the world to re-load,Nevill and June were both dealt with and no threat to proceedings.The twins may have woken by screams or shouting from June,but Sheila could calm them down again and reasure them that everything was all right.leaving them to fall asleep again.Sheila wouldn't have wanted the boys to realize what was about to happen.JB did not have this option,it is hard to explain how the boys were shot in their sleep regarding a Bamber scenario.
Anyway,the boys are dealt with and Sheila prepares to meet her maker,she realizes that the only way to shoot herself is through the mouth or under the chin,and just by holding the rifle up she would have known it would be far easier without the silencer.So,she loads some more bullets into the rifle and removes the silencer.Now, just when her blood got into the silencer is anyones guess,but it wasn't much blood anyway,just a mere drop or two.It could have ran in from Sheilas arm or the cut on her hand from the rifle mechanism as she unscrewed the silencer.
So,Sheila unscrews the silencer and returns it to the gun cupboard.She has a clear path to the den at this time,Nevill is still lying against the Aga,his back slowly burning.
Sheila then cleans herself up and may have washed her bloodied clothes,wet leggings can be seen hung over the bannister.Sheila writes some farewell letters and a suicide note which she places in the Bible for the police to find.She may have then applied some make up in her bedroom,many items are strewn over her bed.
Nevill finally comes round,but has severe head trauma,he forces himself up and over to the phone remembering what had happened,he rings JB and tells him that he needs help, Sheila has gone crazy and has a gun. Nevill cuts the call short,eager to get up stairs and see what has taken place.Nevill staggers along the corridor shouting,hoping to get a response from June.Sheila is alerted and grabs the rifle in preparation.Nevill climbs the stairs,but as he turns the corner he meets Sheila with the rifle,two shots are fired into Nevills face and he staggers back severely injured,he stumbles and sways his way back towards the kitchen,Sheila manages to put two more bullets into Nevill as he retreats.
Once in the kitchen Nevill collapses into a chair,only able to hold up his right arm to shield his head.Sheila pokes wildly at Nevills arm and whacks him over the shoulder.Nevill grabs the barrel of the rifle but Sheila pulls it away,the foreward sight slashing his hand,the watch is also hooked off and sent flying.
Nevill tries to get up but succumbs to his injuries and colapses over a chair,his face landing on the coal scuttle.Sheila knows that the only way to make sure that Nevill is dead is to shoot him in the head like the others,so four more head shots are inflicted.
Sheila goes upstairs and gets hold of the Bible with the suicide note before shooting herself.
So,do you believe Sheila's blood could have got into the silencer from a cut caused in a struggle or from backspatter from a neck shot caused by a low calibre weapon?
There were many near contact wounds inflicted to the head of all the other victims,yet apparently none of their blood entered the silencer.I think we must conclude that in all probability Sheilas blood got into the silencer when she unscrewed it and put it back in the cupboard.
