Jeremy, however was from privilege, I don't see someone like Nevill stumbling in from the pub and leaving his jeans at the top of stairs with shrapnel five pound notes falling all over the place.

I don't think the wallet 'alone' signifies guilt and would have been perfectly happy to accept his explanation for something that just bugged me at the time. There was no explanation forthcoming - just cryptic, non-specific fob-offs. The result was, it bugged me more. It's not the reason I think he's guilty, it just added weight to an aready changing mind.

No, but where was Nevill's wallet normally kept? One assumes he didn't take it with him on the tractor. His habit was to shower after work downstairs then move into the lounge for a gin and tonic. Was the wallet put in the safe during the day, or kept in a cupboard in the master bedroom? It wasn't secure in the safe anyway as Jeremy had a key, unless Barbara Wilson had changed the lock only very recently.

Me personally, I always put both my wallet and car and keys on the bedside table.

It has been suggested there was a row over who should bring in the last load of rape seed. It might indicate that Jeremy left in a hurry, and was still in two minds as to whether the crimes should be committed or not, hence the "it's now or never" remark to Julie in the telephone call later that evening.
