The CT disagree & have kept silent on this for 38 years.

I took it to mean the answerphone was already there. He took the video recorder from the lounge at White House Farm and replaced it with one he had at Bourtree Cottage from Radio Rentals. This might suggest that he wasn't splashing out on gadgets post-murders.  As another anecdote Mike Teskowski claimed on several occasions that police had retrieved tapes from Jeremy's answerphone shortly after the tragedy.

If it had been such a strong point it would have been brought up in cross examination of Bamber. The 999 point certainly was.

Having read the cross examination Transcript there is no mention of the AM.

Yes there is a mountain of evidence Bamber had an AM pre massacre. Which I have posted.

Both CambridgeCutie and Guest29835 have always said he got one after the massacre. Although have no evidence.

The AM is very incriminating.

Five obvious reasons why it is very incriminating -

Nevill would not ring Bamber's AM.

Bamber would not wake from 3-8 rings.

Bamber would not get to the phone within 3-8 rings.

Nevill would give up after 1 or 2 attempts if he did even attempt. 

Bamber could make a received call from WHF to Goldhanger.

What is more possible is Nevill to ring Bamber's AM once and leave a message.

Bamber may wake from a combination of phone ringing & shouting voice message.

Or he may just wake up early naturally anyway. Play Nevill's message & then call the police etc.

Then he would have had a record of Nevill's message for the police.

More possible but that certainly did not happen.

It's ambiguous. Nowhere is it mentioned that he bought one post-murders, and why would he draw attention to himself had the answerphone been part of the murder plan? Carol Ann Lee is specific about the video recorders so why not be on the subject of the answerphone?

Given his situation post 07/08 it would make sense to get one because of all the issues that would arise. Phone calls from all and sundry and having to deal with all the issues related to the farm, finances, solicitors etc. etc. He could have purchased lots of things why would an AM be any more important than say a brief case or a new radio tape player for his car. The video recorder was removed from WHF.

I don't really accept that. The point about the video recorder was it replaced the one he was renting, so he was saving money. There would be a lull until probate was granted and in the interim he would not have access to much cash, hence the attempt to flog nude photographs of his dead sister. As for Jeremy taking charge of White House Farm, it's a bit of a stretch. He installed Peter Eaton as temporary manager and was in any case determined to sell up as soon as was practicable.
