What record? I think DB is innocent. It's not conclusive for it to be David or Robin.
The Police decided to burn the house down along with some of the evidence.
I'll respond on the other thread. Burning the house down was done precipitously, though it's been said in this case there was too much evidence, not too little.

The video with Jude was fantastic. I'm so interested in renovations and restorations that I'm hooked on those who buy properties in France's beautiful countryside, including the chateaus which are something else. There are many cottages in France which are 20,000 to 30,000Euros with acres of land in lovely locations surrounded by countryside, but you definitely need transport. Idyllic lives.

I wonder if it's for youngsters though, lookout? One certainly needs a lot of energy to renovate a property, deal with the power and water supply, and where is the nearest grocery store I wonder?

Great to see you posting again, by the way.

Hello Lookie.  Have you read 'A Year In Provence'?  If not I would recommend.  Think you would enjoy.

You can't be that ancient if you're still of working age?

You'd be surprised at the numbers of middle-aged people who buy chateaus ( x ) to restore. Afterall it's mainly they who have the money to spend. Many of them have projects in mind to turn outhouses with the grounds into gites for ongoing businesses. As I said, many aren't youngsters unless they're the siblings of the buyers and college permitting will lend a hand with some part of the building work.. Cherente seems to be a popular area, very quaint in parts with villages and the usual grocery stores. It's as near or as far away you wish to be to " civilisation " as you want.

If I'd been younger it's a country I would have gone to. For historical places it's a gem as there are some beautiful places to visit, lovely reasonable hotels off the beaten track and usually offering good food too.

I must say I've learned a lot by watching these videos of restoration and the sheer man-power and hard work that has gone into them. " Brian's life in France " is a good watch. An Irishman who moved to France, bought a farmhouse and did it up to make it habitable, but he does really well and does journeys around the area to different places----definitely worth a watch.

It's good to drop in here now and again and I feel so lucky that my health is holding out okay, I surprised myself really even though it's taken me 3 years to get where I am now.

Many thanks for your kind words.

I can remember back in 1981 I went to the Le Mans 24-hour motorcycle racing meet.
Then rode down to the Dordogne to meet up with a girl friend who was holidaying down there with her family, who were builders/ property developers.
They had recently bought an old barn and were developing it into a holiday home.
The whole lifestyle there was so idyllic like it was going 200 years back in time, great inexpensive eateries, beautiful scenery dotted with old chateaus, still can't think of a better area I've visited.
