I'm like a lot of Brits who like the security of a roof over my head. I'd rather buy a property outright and use as a base. It's horses for courses I suppose.
Oh ive got a house so i have security, but travelling long term i would sooner move about.  I do a lot of bikepacking so it suits me.

I might have fancied that in the 1970s Hardy Boy but the world has become a far more dangerous place since.

If I recall correctly the Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau bummed around the world with a backpack, until he realized he should get some work done. He wasn't PM at the time, I hasten to add.

I don't know Steve, i do use cheap lodging at the same time,  Iv'e just stopped at Little Walsingham with the Monks next to the Abbey, the breakfast they gave me was out of this world.  I followed the route of Queen Boudicca taking in old Castles and Churches.

I'd go to such places in a group, but I'd feel too vulnerable on my own. Maybe I've watched too many crime shows.

The capital of England at the time was Colchester and Queen Boudicca raised an Army to fight the Romans, she defeated them in Colchester and then marched to London and defeated them there,  She lost her final Battle in the Midlands to a smaller Army.

I recall a similar anecdote during the Civil War, when Oliver Cromwell spent the night sleeping on an oak table at Stonyhurst College.

You have three months to reside in one of the EU countries, unless you're a rich pensioner and gain residency. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/the-truth-about-the-big-brexit-lie-is-getting-painful-for-leavers/ar-AA1eO3wY?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=7e9385ee774f4ce5be3a73152c63c950&ei=8

If you have a job you're more likely to be able to stay. But I'm looking at the pensioner visa as I don't want to take up gainful employment. The best visas on offer so far from my research are the D7 Visa from Portugal and the Professional Visa in Ecuador.

That's if I want to leave the UK. I haven't fully decided yet.

I would take up a three month rent first Steve, it will give you a good idea then?  I sold up/ downsized  and went to live in Essex for 8/9 years, i didn't buy i lived in a caravan, it was a move i never regretted.  My intention was to move to Spain, i used to go over and rent, it served well because i found out it wasn't for me. So i bought back up North and did it up at my leisure while i lived in Essex.

I don't envy some people's jobs. Striking the right balance I suppose. https://youtu.be/uFVCTq39yZA

No, I don't want to fall off the property ladder. That's not to say I don't want to travel, though globetrotting is not as safe as it was. I watched a digital nomad female experiencing that lifestyle: in one video she almost boasted she got into some place at a discount because it was quiet. In another video she's eating sushi on a bar stool in Tokyo, and as a blonde sticking out like a sore thumb. I did comment on the video saying I thought she was foolhardy frequenting such places alone.
