I'm killing two birds with one stone as it were, thinking of geriatric care in any foreign clime, whilst simultaneously confirming to myself that on the balance of probabilities Sheila Bowler is guilty as hell, despite the following programme bending over backwards to posit her in a good light. https://youtu.be/sXjy6TeWVho

Half an hour by air from Buenos Aires or a four-hour train ride from the capital lies Argentina's premier seaside resort: https://youtu.be/zyAku-BbLmU

This will be Great Steve if it ever happens,

Interrail Pass and high speed train travel will be great for me.  I will be planning my trips come March/April, Interrail pass [i will have to work out how many day pass i need, 4/5/7/15 day pass] depending where i go with my Folding Bike.  If i buy a Pass now, it lasts for 6 months, but once i trigger the Pass you have a time limit to use it,  a 4 day pass once started has to be used in any 4 days over a month, so too does the 5/7 day pass, if i but the 10/15 day pass i have 2 months to use it in.   so i have to be careful when i buy the pass, sometimes they have offers on so i will be keeping check.  Bear in mind though...........Can I travel in my country?
Only to cross the border. The Global Pass allows up to 2 journeys in your home country: 1 to leave, 1 to return - multiple train transfers included.

But you can't use an interrail pass within capital cities?

Who told you that, or do you mean on the tube and bus?

Eurail is not valid in busses, with the exception of busses run by the railways themselves but you won't find those in cities.

Eurail is valid in trains of participating companies, including their trains within cities.  Elizabeth line, Thameslink and London Overground are valid, as well as all other mainline rail operators except Heathrow Express.

London Underground, Docklands Light Railway, Trams and Buses are not valid

I couldn't use it on the Underground if that's what you mean.  My first day using one, took me first Class to London St Pancras, then Eurostar to Paris and then Paris to Bordeaux, all first class.

My wife and Daughter travelled for a week in Switzland last year using just the Swiss 1 week pass on their trains and buses. they could have used the interrail, but it was cheaper just to buy the one week Swiss pass.  They had to pay seperate though to travel by train up the Eiger.

My understanding is that you can use it to get to and from capital cities but you can't use it within?

The only problem youv'e got when you reach a city, and to travel about the City it;s either Metro or Underground so no you cannot use it, but if i arrived in London from Paris to St Pancras, i could then get the overground to travel within London.   Interrail is only valid in trains (the train operating companies listed here). In London, this includes London Overground, Southeastern, Tfl Rail (Crossrail) and Thameslink. It does however not include the tube, tram or bus lines.

You might be thinking along the lines travelling in UK, if you live in the UK, you get one outbound and one inbound travel, so technically you cannot [not quite sure] just keep traveling and coming back on yourself i think?  But say i live in Walthamstow [London], i could arrive from Paris to London St Pancras and then get the Overground Train to walthamstow at Liverpool Street.  The one outbound and one inbound travel rule is in place to stop people buying a months/ two months/three months pass and using it everyday withing their own Country if that makes sense.

I will have to look again.  I looked last year as I have a friend who lives in Turkey.  Another friend and myself were thinking we could train down one side of Europe, visit friend in Turkey and wash our clothes, and then train back up the other side of Europe.  I think there were passes for all sorts of duration from days to months.  But from memory the pass didn't include train travel within cities.  I will try and find it.

It's a great way to travel though, the App is easy to use and you can change train times, when i was coming back from Paris, i realised i was going to arrive in St Pancras one hour earlier so i just changed my train time for my connection, if i'd bought a ticket as normal, i wouldn't have been able to do it on the trainline app.  The problem with French high speed trains TGV you have to book a seat reservation seperate, on the French local trains you don't have to.

Margate was very run down but has improved significantly in recent years.  Apparently all the research shows one of the best ways to improve an area is to open a gallery:

https://www.visitthanet.co.uk/attractions/tke-studios-101806/

Broadstairs has nice parts including the beach.

I haven't visited for some time.

Whitstable just round the corner is my fave place in the area.

Are you still deciding where to settle for your retirement?
