Someone mentioned the Canaries and USA. I don't think there's a retirement visa for the USA, and to get a Green Card I think you have to start a business, which would be too much for me now I'm no spring chicken.

I was in Correlajo last May,  it's a nice island although much quieter than it's other counterparts.

I think it's primarily for an older clientele. I've been told to go south to Jandia and environs and to avoid the more northern resorts.

Sadly my days riding on the back of a banana boat in the morning hands aloft then frequenting the likes of Bobby's bar and listening to girls giggling on a bar stool of an evening are long since past.

Seems like Spain has closed the door to any hope of retirement.....................As part of a new proposal, property taxes for non-EU citizens in Spain would be equivalent to 100 per cent of the value of a home.

I'm getting sick and tired of countries who don't really want us, either as tourists or retirees. Just wait until the European Union's Entry/Exit System (EES) comes into operation. Can you imagine the queues at Dover and airports at Easter as people wait in line? So ironic that legal travellers are treated in this way in 2025 when human trafficking gangs from the Third World are rife.
