By Jeremy Bamber.

I think what happened was, complaints were submitted about Ainsley and the main SOC officer Cook.  Essex Police apparently found that there was no case to answer regarding these matters. Could it be that the next part of the process would be for the defence to appeal to the IOPC.

Having now received the appeal, the IOPC are aware that Essex Police have tried to ride this out in-house. If that is the case, it shows how much EP are feeling vulnerable - because they must have known that JB would appeal their decision to the higher body. Their attempt to reject the complaints being akin to burying heads in the sand and wishing the whole thing would just go away.

Both these men died so are unable to speak up for themselves. I still can't see Bamber getting this as far as an appeal. He may succeed in getting some knuckles wrapped but I doubt it will go any further.

Both these men were alive at the time of the complaints, many of which were from 2021. Essex Police chose to shield them.

I think somebody will lean on the IOPC and we will see the usual stalling or stonewalling. I hope I'm wrong.

I agree Zoso. The Establishment always plays for time anyhow, not that I have one iota of sympathy for the defendant in this particular case.

What will happen though Roch? They can't have a retrial as many protagonists are dead. They can't let Bamber roam free down to Essex with Anschütz rifle in hand. The Barry George solution that he is "not innocent enough" to be compensated might be one way out, but what do they do with Bamber thereafter?

Depends upon how they regard the seriousness of the complaints. Their wording seems to imply that the brevity of the complaints is significant enough to criticise Essex Police. Either way somebody will undoubtedly lean upon them, just like the CPS fiasco, where naughty Jeremy was not allowed to see evidence of the silencer.

It still smacks to me of clutching at straws. The Defence looking to wriggle out of Bamber's responsibility for killing five on a technicality. I suppose the David Bain case on the other side of the world has given solace and succour.

Yes, but they aren't now. We don't know EP shielded anyone, just that the complaint has been made by Bamber. I have a document where he accused West of perjury because of the timings on the call log. He has since embraced this time - after he realised it could be used to incorporate a call from Nevill.

IOPC may just  find there is nothing to argue but that remains to be seen. If there is something then it SHOULD be investigated - we'll have to wait and see.

Essex Police must have known it had a statutory duty to refer to the IOPC. They tried to just reject in house. And now they have been criticised for not referring, they have nothing to offer by way of acceptance. They are operating according to their own rules as per this case. Rules that they have invented and developed in order to manage this case.

In view of the horrors that have come to light regarding the behaviours of police which took place years ago and more recently, it has been more noticeable that these misconducts have been in the forefront of  the news more recentlty than of decades ago, thus making the public more aware that corruption can't be hidden forever. This is not a " one-off, lessons will be learnt" , corruption is on-going !

Lets now hope that those remaining involved don't breathe their last until this case is finally closed.

They should dig up the most guilty coppers who have crossed over to the other side and hang up their corpses to rot.

Steady on there, none of this means Bamber is innocent - nor has any of tis been proven. It's just claims right now and we've surely seen enough of those not to make snap judgements.

According to local Essex news, the IOPC are not taking any further action.  They have just upheld the complaint of JB.
