Here is a link to the latest Daily Mail article.  The Mail have been taking an active interest in the case.  It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Hasn't there been about 28 investigations into the police conduct over the last 36 years?

The police changed direction a few days after the massacre. It would have been sooner if Taff wasn't heading the case.

On one had, it's incredible that Essex Police can operate in such a manner on this case, seemingly without a care that they could ever be at risk of exposure. On the other hand I wish Bamber would tone down his language and almost childlike exclamations of freedom.

I think there may be more substance to this latest development than there has been with some in the past.  I believe we will hear more about this in the coming period.  It is in my view quite significant and we may well see a change in attitude towards Jeremy Bamber and his efforts to secure an appeal.

It was certainly the endgame for Daniel and Nicholas, Sheila, Nevill and June, when Jeremy killed them.

You could be right Neil. It certainly doesn't paint a good picture of EP's handling of complaints.

Do you really think that adds anything to the debate about the case?

It adds as much or as little as Jeremy Bamber using the word.

Bamber told The Mail on Sunday: 'It's going to be very difficult for the CCRC not to act very quickly once they have the IOPC report stating that Essex Police failed in their statutory duty. I think this is the endgame.'

OK I understand now.

'The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has concluded that Essex Police breached its statutory duty by not referring 29 serious complaints to the IOPC about how senior officers handled the case.'

OK I understand now.

I do think JB does himself no favours by not showing less restraint in his choice of words.  He needs PR advice. Instead of pointing to the issue at hand in an understated manner, he points to himself and his 'freedom'.  I think you would be well placed on the PR advice front ngb, as you do tend to take an understated approach.
