She is a 32-year-old single woman, who lived with her parents, John, 77 and Susan, 63, in Hereford, England, where she grew up. They both attended Manchester Crown Court today to witness their daughter in the dock. In 2011 Lucy graduated from the University of Chester with a degree in Nursing and Midwifery. It is said she wanted to pursue the nursing profession from an early age. She started her working life at Liverpool Women's Hospital, where it's stated she was appreciated by her work colleagues.

In January 2015 she gained employment at the Countess of Chester Hospital's neonatal unit in Cheshire, North West England. She is accused of the murder of seven infants under twelve months from the period of June 2015-June 2016 and the attempted murder of ten more. In 2017 a police enquiry was begun into a significant statistical rise in the deaths of healthy babies. She was arrested in 2018 and again in 2019, but was bailed pending further police enquiries.

In November 2020 the parents of all babies affected were being fully updated on progress and supported by police. At this time district judge Nicholas Sanders of Warrington magistrates court claimed a Section 45 order, which restricted the mass media from distinguishing the declared victims of attempted murder. She was arrested for a third time in that month.

Lucy pleads not guilty to all charges. The trial continues. https://www.aol.co.uk/news/lucy-letby-trial-7-pieces-170108126.html

Thanks Steve.  I've been reading about this for the first time today.  Awful if true.  What struck me is that all those who died appear to have had a twin sibling?

The prosecution also alleges that LL looked up the families of the deceased victims on facebook?

FORTHCLYDE:
It was stated trial might last six months.
I stopped reading BBC news website as very upsetting.
I won't comment on case but remember Stockport nurse faced similar charges a few years ago.
But a couple of years later they caught the real culprit she was innocent.

lookout:
I admit to just reading snippets of this awful case and firstly wondered why, after 2 or 3 babies died, weren't there questions asked before many more succumbed.
