How To Explain Public Sentiment Over The Queen's Demise?
« on: September 15, 2022, 07:02:PM »
My only connection with the Queen was as a Brownie and Guide.  Thereafter I have listened to the Queen's speech at Christmas and sang, or at least tried to sing, the national anthem at football matches.  Probably about the same as most others I know.

I don't understand the wall-to-wall press coverage, outpouring of grief, teddies and flowers, and queuing for hours to see the Queen lying-in-state which in reality is a platform with a flag draped over it.

What exactly has the Queen done to deserve this level of admiration?  How exactly has she enhanced the lives of her subjects during her reign?
