Revisiting the murder of a 14-year-old schoolgirl will be compulsive viewing for anyone interested in the Scottish legal system, not forgetting that one is dealing with the loss of a human being, dispatched in the cruellest way on the banks of the River Leven in the wee hours of August 25 1996. After the passage of time tongues wag, the immediate threat of retaliation dissipates, the code of silence is broken and the truth often emerges, truth, which as in the case of Luke Mitchell sheds an unfavourable light on some areas and human interaction in Scotland, though one hopes that these rare instances are atypical of that nation as a whole.
