The silencer was found right at the back of the cupboard, yet Bamber had took it off two or three times the week leading up to the killings?  Why at the back of the cupboard when it obviously was getting used because he was taking it off?

On 10 August 1985 members of the family, who were far from convinced that Sheila Caffell had been responsible for the killings, went to White House Farm with the executor of the estate, Basil Cock. During the afternoon David Boutflour found the sound moderator together with the telescopic sights for the murder weapon at the back of the gun cupboard in the downstairs office. His father, his sister Ann Eaton, the executor and the farm secretary all witnessed the recovery.

The silencer was inside a box. Behind other boxes and a dartboard.

Bamber was aware that Sheila's arms were not long enough with the silencer attached. Once he had taken it off, he had to ensure the police did not see it as it fits the rifle.

Yes it seems that way, yet he used it two or three times during the week leading up to the murders,  irrespective of blood being found inside, anything being used regular wouldn’t have been hidden at the back of the cupboard, it’s not a dangerous item. so it makes it very suspiciously put out the way?

It wasn’t spotted nearby on the morning of the murders and the police did check the gun cupboard, so it definitely  wasn’t to hand.

It said .....

"Hi Darling, Hope this gets to you from Stalag 13. Thinking about you. Sorry we're splitting up. I love you Stinker"
Thanks Caroline, he was mad the police had looked at this note, what did he expect he was in for questioning about murders?

Weird note for someone who was charged because the recipient had just accused him of five murders.

Yes, it shows he had no boundaries, some will call him stupid, I think he thought he was above everything.

It certainly shows arrogant disregard for the situation he's in, but far from suggesting innocence and naivety, it's more bluster and bluff.

Wonder why Bamber would use the rifle so often? He was a farmer, not a hunter. He didn't even have access into WHF.

Once the silencer is on the rifle it will probably stay there. The rifle would just be put away in the gun cupboard with silencer attached.

Ive read somewhere it was Bamber who took the sights off the rifle?  Anyone else know of this?

Yes, I posted about this last week, it was David Boutflour, apparently, when he was interviewed by Mick Clarke, he admitted to removing the sights and then again to David Boutflour when he asked him about it.

This why Clark's FIRST notes would be invaluable. The days after giving his first statement, Jeremy made some amendments, which included what he did with the rifle. They must still exist?

And as we're constantly reminded that he wasn't into blood sports, WHAT was he shooting, rubber ducks?

Thanks Caroline, I knew I read it somewhere, so he must have removed them with the silencer after the weekend before the murders.  Both these items being found at the back of the cupboard.

He didn’t use it, he just liked removing the silencer and sights 🙈
