who killed Corryn Rayney
There are many strands to this case and everyone is entitled to his or her own point of view and I'm sure will present facts to back this up. To my mind the body bag is significant and indicates a premeditated crime, which rules out the random attack theory, though police were wrong to publicly declare the husband as their "prime and only suspect." The Rayneys were a power couple who outwardly had everything, though it's my belief Lloyd caught wind of his wife's affair and started to plan the murder from that point. I believe he knocked her out at home, placed her in the pre-arranged body bag, dumped her in King's Park and returned to the house on foot. He then played his part as the grieving husband, in control of his emotions at all times, so much so that police did not bring charges until three years afterwards. https://au.news.yahoo.com/corryn-rayneys-ex-boyfriend-reveals-intimate-relationship-34909860.html?guccounter=1

IMHO it's a no brainer that Lacco commited this crime.
Amongst all the powerfull evidence against him, is the statement he made a month prior to passengers in his car, "there's a body going in there"
Coupled with the sand found in his car, he could have readily dug the shallow grave prior to abducting his prey, and have the body bag ready.
If it hadn't of been for hijacking (Lacco's words) the deceased's car and, damaging the sump leaving a trail of oil, the body may never have been found.

This theory is not entirely out of the question. I would have thought that there would have been more signs of sexual assault on the body, and of course criminals do tend to stick to the same types of crimes so why murder, why did nobody witness the abduction and why was she in particular marked out weeks in advance when one would have thought Lacco could have chosen younger and easier targets? https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/wa/sex-offender-allon-lacco-talked-of-dumping-body-ng-5784d147fb9256572c2a2be55a31dbe7

Serial violent sex offenders often up their offending to murder, it's getting the life sentence for it that eventually becomes the only way for their offending to stop.
The actual abduction was in fact a car jacking this could have been carried out any where on the victim's journey home.
Corryn was a at the time still young and attractive looking, and could have been thought of being easy prey to a predator on the look out for a victim.
Also the race/ nationality element is interesting, maybe the victim being of Indian extraction was a factor.

But I would have thought sex offenders are looking for prey there and then, not taking the trouble to stalk a victim for weeks then buy a body bag when the deed was done.

I disagree, predatory sex offenders become alerted to potential opportunity. Then the planning is put in place to avoid being caught.

It's quite possible he was involved, but most of these types are sad desperados who commit spur of the moment crimes. https://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/news/crime-court/sex-offender-allon-lacco-did-not-kill-mum-admits-regularly-fantasising-about-killing-people/news-story/92ef1d64b97e284fbfdf96d24db13f96

No mention of finding the map of the building where Corryn worked.
Lacco's lame attempts at explaining away the compelling evidence against him.
All the Police had on Lloyd Rayney was that he and his wife were seperating, no forensics nothing.
Plus Lloyd Rayney had prosecuted bent coppers, a myopic investigation if nothing else.

It was a circumstantial case but there was forensic evidence even if it was rejected by the trial judge. https://thewest.com.au/news/perth/seed-pod-evidence-back-in-rayney-trial-ng-b88540201z

I wouldn't go that far, but since the judge was his own judge and jury there was no chance of any comeback.
-
I thought The Jury were out before the Judge's summing up.
Come on, the Police's case was a complete disaster. Hence the multi million dollar defamation settlement.

Well Lloyd Rayney lied on oath about taping his wife's conversations. It's plain to me that he was trying to minimize any future alimony payment whether you believe or not he is a murderer. To my mind he pre-planned the killing when he realized Corryn would play hardball. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-05-11/lloyd-rayney-unlawfully-recorded-conversations-of-wife-sat-finds/9750954
As far as the trial was concerned Rayney successfully argued for a judge only procedure.

When couples go through a marriage break up the gloves are often off, using under hand tactics when it comes to dividing up the family assets. This doesn't make him a murderer.
I don't blame Rayney opting for a trial by Judge only, after the Police had publicly dragged his name through the dirt, there wouldn't have been an objective Jury.
Also being of Indian extraction, he may have been subjected to having guilt assumed on him by possible Red Necks.
The Police may have been aware of him taping conversations with his wife, this erroneously fed into their narrative of him being the murderer despite the absence of any concrete evidence.
There's far more compelling evidence against Lacco and his cousin (partner in crime) especially with his cigarette butt being found on the Rayney's front lawn.
What are the odds of someone planning to kill his wife at the same time as 2 notorious sex offenders having compelling evidence of also committing the crime.
The only alternative explanation is if Rayney had some sort of inside knowledge that these 2 violent rapists were in the area and framed them.
But then there are the incriminating maps found at Lacco's address.

I could swallow this theory if it wasn't for the body bag. Two down and outs are not going to go to that trouble.

Any information on where the body bag originated from ?
Would make sense to place a body in there prior to burying it, to help prevent any dogs from smelling a cadaver.
Lacco could easily have thought of acquiring one as part of his plan. He may have even got the idea from a fellow in mate when he was serving his recent lengthy prison sentence.

I may have been mistaken, in that at 31:14 on the tape it may have been the police who put her inside it and not the perpetrator. It doesn't mention any body bag at the murder site.
-
Wasn't there mention about nothing being found in the body bag, that connected the pod from a tree in the front garden ?

I think the allegation was more or less the opposite, that police had gone to town with paint from the house also on the pod so much so that suspicion was aroused that it was a plant.
