Please read the contents of the following witness statement, of Dr Craig, dated, 7th AUGUST 1985, and its replacement version, dated (to mbe posted in due course)...
-
In this version of his witness statement, Dr Craig confirms that Sheila Caffell only had one wound at the time he pronounced her death at 8.44am, so the second wound must have been inflicted at some stage afterwards. Rather more significantly, it means that Jeremy Bamber did not shoot his sister dead, and stage her death scene on the main bedroom floor. The second fatal shot occurred after Dr Craig left the main bedroom, and or the farmhouse altogether...
It is also factual that Dr Craig had been and gone from the scene, before senior officers implemented 'informatives' (9.00am - 10.00am), at which time the fatal second wound was inflicted, and her death circumstances stage managed to try and make it appear as though she had taken her own life...
Police shot Sheila, and killed her, on the main bedroom floor, in bizarre circumstances, when a rifle was being positioned on her body after she had been lifted from on top of the bed and transferred onto the floor. Once they had moved her body, they brought the rifle and whilst attempting to get the end of guns barrel in a position close to the solitary wound on her neck, and manipulating the fingers of her right hand against the trigger inside the trigger guard, a shot was discharged from the gun, the bullet of which ended up lodged in her brain (this occurred at 9.13am) after DS Jones had attended the main bedroom scene, and he had viewed Sheila's body that was laid on top of the bed, looking so peaceful as though she was simply sleeping...
Inspector Miller, DCS Harris, Inspector Gibbons, PI Montgomery, and PS Woodcock were all present when the unbeknown loaded rifle was being manipulated on Sheila's body, and which discharged that fatal shot...
Cook, and the other SOCO's from Witham police station, had not even arrived at the scene until (9.20am), after this mishap had occurred - hence why they had to wait outside until 10.00am, and only then did they take control of the five bodies and the premises...

Another SOC team from Headquarters, were already inside the premises, accompanying senior officers conducting 'Informatives throughout an hour long period between 9.00am - 10.00am...

Its well documented the Dr Craig was an alcoholic (he was Grahams GP.)
He did not see the second gunshot wound because he did not take a close examination. Alcohol made him careless.

So, Dr Craig was an alcoholic, DS Jones liked a bottle of whiskey too oh so what about Harris, and Gibbons, who also only saw one wound, or a wound to Sheila Caffells neck. Craig told Ewen Smith that when he pronounced Sheila dead (8.44am) that he only saw a single bullet entry wound to her neck at that stage. In other words, there was no second bullet entry wound to her neck at that time. When I spoke with Ewen Smith after his visit to see Dr Craig, he told me that Craig was ill and he couldn't /wouldn't put him through the ordeal of having to testify in any future appeal, or criminal proceedings. But, Ewen said to me, that something must have happened to Sheila after Dr Craig had left the main bedroom crime scene, when she was shot a second time...
Additionally, Sheila's body had been laid on its side, in the recovery position, before whoever had stage managed her death as 'a suicide' with the unsilenced rifle on top of her body. You can tell that Sheila's death scene was 'faked', by reference to the position and direction of blood flow upon her face, neck, arm and her nightdress...
If police had discovered Sheila's body in that condition they would have known that she didn't or couldn't have rolled into the recovery position upon the right hand side of her body, and remain in possession of the rifle with her right hand resting on the gun near to the trigger mechanism...
Instead, of introducing the dodgy silencer evidence, and saying that it would have been impossible, for her to have been capable of unscrewing the silencer and taking it all the way downstairs, hide it in a box at the back of the gun cupboard, before returning back upstairs and laying down dead again, clutching the rifle, because once the second shot to her neck was inflicted, death would have followed instantaneously...
Well, once the second shot had been received into Sheila's neck, she could not have rolled over onto the right hand side of her body, into the recovery position, still clutching the rifle, laying there sufficiently long enough to allow the bloodflow to stain her face, neck arm and her nightdress, before rolling back into the supine position still clutching the rifle - without police not treating her death as a suspicious one..
They were present when the second shot was discharged into her neck, and that's why the police did not treat her death as a suspicious one. Instead, they decided to set her death scene and try to make out that she had shot herself..

Part of the cover up, involved DS Jones returning to the crime scene at 11.10am - 11.45am, to collect the silencer (SBJ/1) that was used on one of the two guns used in the shootings, and remove it from the crime scene...
DS Jones told the COLP investigators that he had no recollection of ever having returned to the scene, once he had left there, to go to Jeremy's cottage, with DC Clark to obtain a witness statement from him..
He definitely returned to the crime scene on that first morning of the police investigation, and he seized or took away a silencer ('SBJ/1') and a calendar from the kitchen, and he took photographs inside the downstairs toilet/bathroom, which were subsequently given exhibit references, 'SBJ/2', 'SBJ/3', and SBJ/4'...
DS Jones return to the crime scene is documented in PC Chappels log, and further confirmation that DS Jones returned to the crime scene that morning is noted in DI Cooks pocketbook entry dated, 7th August 1985...

Here is a copy of Dr Craigs witness statement, dated, 7th August 1985:-
It seems somewhat very strange that this witness statement was made on the day that Dr Craig went to the farmhouse, and at 8.40am, 8.44am and 8.50am (7th August 1985) that he pronounced each of the five victims, as being dead, and that the contents of his witness statement were edited by someone at a later date, because the nature of the investigation had changed from being one of 'four murders and a suicide (7th August until 7th September 1985), and became a matter of 'Five murders' (8th September 1985, onward ).In particular, I draw attention to the contents of page three, commencing with the word 'OPINION'...
'Death occurred some hours previously and it seemed probable that they all occurred within a short time of one another. Death had probably been instantaneous, certainly in the case of the twin boys who were lying in a sleeping position. The death of Mr Bamber, of Mrs June Bamber and of the twins was due to gunshot wounds inflicted by another person. The appearances suggested that in the case of Sheila Bamber the wound had been inflicted by her own hand'.
Whoever had gone on to edit these comments from Dr Craigs statement, drew a line around the entire paragraph, and two diagonal lines on page 3 using a pen, and then added in their own handwriting the following instruction:-
'CERTIFY DEATH ONLY'
-
Additionally, Dr Craigs original statement that he made on the day of the tragedy whilst the facts were still fresh in his mind, mentions the following on page 1:-
' Following a request from Witham police received at 8.10am, on 7th August 1985 I attended Whitehouse farm, Tolleshunt D'Arcy. I arrived at the Farm at 8.25am, and was met by Sergeant Bews who informed me that some hours earlier a shooting incident had occurred in the farmhouse. I was then accompanied accompanied by Chief Superintendant George Harris to the farm; we entered by the back door and went into the kitchen where I found the body of an elderly man slumped forward on a stool, leaning over the hearth with his head just above the coal scuttle. There was a considerable amount of blood emanating from a wound at the posterior aspect of the scalp; there was also some brain tissue present on the outside of this wound. The wound on the scalp had the appearance of an entry wound from a gunshot. I certified death at 8.40am. I noted that the room was in considerable disarray with a quantity of broken crockery on the floor, stools were upturned, there were items of clothing lying about on the floor and on the staircase leading out in the kitchen. The mats were scuffed and'...

It is rather astonishing that Dr Craig's, 7th August 1985, version of his witness statement made when the police investigation (SC/866/85) was one of 'four murders, and a suicide' 7th August -7th September 1985, should support the police case at that time, yet somebody chose to redact the parts which were unfavourable, when the investigation took on the mantle, of 'Five Murders (SC/786/85), from 8th September onwards...
Rather more worryingly, that DS Jones was involved in making sure that nothing mentioned in the redacted version of the same witness stated dated 16th December 1985, was capable of undermining the police stance in the case - 'five murders'..

That is not evidence of your claim that he only saw one wound on SC due to carelessness and alcohol consumption.

So why hasn't this been published ?
-
Has my post on the first thread been censored because I've got the 500 error just on that page ?

The fact Sheila had two gunshot in the crime scene photos yet he only noticed one and he had a bottle of whiskey on him at the time is in itself proof he was careless in his observation due to alcoholism. ::)

No it's not. Is it a flask or a bottle? A bottle would obviously be deemed worse than a flask. Either way it is no proof whatsoever regarding the cause of failing to see a wound. A doctor attending the scene of a mass killing with knowledge that a surviving relative was present, may well choose to administer a dose of spirits to the relative. It was the 1980's David.
-
Including Craig, there were 6 people who'd spoken of " the wound ". The coroners report on the 9th of August had stated " The appearance suggested in the case of Sheila Caffell THE WOUND had been inflicted by her own hand ".
-
Why did Edsex police, and the CPS keep the role of a team of headquarters SOCO, and the carrying out of 'informatives' by senior police officers, st the scene between 9.00am - 10.00am at the scene?

The fact of the matter is - Sheila was shot twice, he only noticed one gunshot wound. Hence he did not take a close look and was careless (whatever the underlying reason may be).

Why did everyone else who also visited the main bedroom crime scene after Dr Craig had pronounced Sheila as being dead at 8.44am, until around 9.10am, make witness statements stating that Sheila had 'a wound' to her neck at the time they viewed her body, within a 26 minute time period between when Dr Craig saw one wound, or a wound to Sheila's neck, (8.44am) and until around 9.10 am, when DS Jones, and DC Clark left the scene so that they could take a witness statement from Jeremy Bamber at his cottage at 9 Head Street, Goldhanger?
Thereafter, other officers in attendance at the scene inside the main bedroom, refer to Sheila having two bullet entry wounds to her neck, from 9.13 - 9.15pm, onwards?
How could officers and Dr Craig only see one bullet entry wound upon Sheila's neck between 8.44 am - 9.13pm, and yet thereafter, from then onwards (9.23am) every other officer saw two bullet entry wounds there?
Something happened to Sheila Caffell whilst her body was upstairs in the main bedroom from 8.44am when Dr Craig viewed her body, and 9.10am, when DS Jones visited, and then left the main bedroom (Sheila got shot a second time in the neck during a basic training exercise, known as 'informatives which were authorised by senior officers at the scene and ACC Peter Simpson, via use of a landline phone at the farmhouse. This telephone exchange lasted from 8.09Am until 8.59 - 9.00 am. To date, there has never yet been any attempts to clarify what had been talked about between Senior officers during this crucial telephone exchange, between them at the scene and ACC Simpson at his home address..
