Title: 13 dead in California bar shooting
Post by: Steve_uk on November 08, 2018, 04:59:PM
The suspect is Ian David Long, a US Marine Corps veteran, who was apparently suffering from PTSD after serving with the coalition in Afghanistan. At 11:20am local time he entered the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, a community 40 miles north of Los Angeles, shot a bouncer in the doorway and proceeded to rain bullets down on the 100-strong crowd, which dispersed under pool tables and into locked toilets, some breaking windows with chairs as they frantically attempted to exit the 2500sq feet building. 13 people lost their lives with a further eighteen taken to hospital with bullet wounds.

Mr. Long had been known to authorities for relatively minor offences including battery, disturbance and traffic offences. He was visited at his home by a mental health team but was deemed not a sufficiently serious case to be subject to a 5150 Involuntary Psychiatric Hold order. It is evident in retrospect that his outward clean-cut appearance concealed a disturbed individual, who had not only suicidal thoughts but also a pre-planned determination to take people with him, to which the attack with smoke bombs attests. One wonders what exactly he witnessed on his tours of Afghanistan, and notes that over 1 million claims of abuse amongst a population of 35 million have been submitted to the International Criminal Court, which the USA does not recognize. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/breaking-california-shooting-gunman-29-13556589
