I think it's a good idea from me to deal with the shooting of June Bamber in the main bedroom, and the stance and positioning taken up by the shooter at the time of occurrence!

I shall start of by posting up an image and a plan drawing of the bedroom taken or prepared by one SOCO team or another...

The shooter in whatever (whoever) disguise almost certainly entered via the main bedroom doorway, leading to and from the top landing.  She or he had control of that doorway, and with a fully loaded magazine of bullets in the rifle, I doubt that anybody would have been foolish enough or capable enough of trying to get out of the main bedroom by that exist or entrance!

We have the shooter at the main doorway in possession of a loaded gun...

June Bamber, alone in bed - the shooter tip toes into the bedroom until they are just inside the doorway, they see June sleeping horizontally upon her side. The shooter takes aim, and within a matter of two or three seconds a total of 5 shots are fired at her body...

The shooter, either then thinks or believes they have killed June, or they are worried that Neville Bamber might have returned to the farmhouse, and heard the shootings, so the shooter leaves the main bedroom still with a maximum of 6 bullets still loaded inside the weapon. They go downstairs in the expectation of being confronted by Neville Bamber, but it turns out to be a false alarm, so the shooter returns back upstairs, by which time June has managed to get herself out of bed, and had actually walked around the bed, and back to her side of the bed again, only to be shot twice more by the shooter, shots which effectively killed her immediately...

The alternative explanation to this, is that Neville Bamber was sleeping alongside his wife in their bed, when the shooter snook into the entrance to the doorway of the main bedroom with a fully loaded magazine to the rifle, and started shooting at both of them...

Now..

If this explanation be right - and if we include the four spent bullet cases which PI Miller instructed DC Hammersley to insert into the body of his 2nd witness statement, as exhibits, DRH/1, DRH/2, DRH/3 and DRH/4, then the shooter shot June 5 times non fatally, and Neville Bamber 4 times non fatally whilst they were either both still laid in bed, or as the case may be once either or both were out of bed, yet still confined to inside the main bedroom...

This idea is remarkable. Since if Neville Bamber had been shot non fatally four times as per the recorded non fatal wound sites, whilst he was still either in bed, or still inside the bedroom, there would surely have been a significant loss of his blood either on the bed, the bedclothes, or on the bedroom carpet, or furniture, etc, etc, etc...

But there does not exist any his blood there, not a single drop of his blood anywhere at all inside that bedroom, which I find truly astonishing!!!

Let's put it this way - if Neville Bamber had been shot onlynonce whilst he was present inside the main bedroom then I would have expected at least some of his blood being found or identified case being there, but...

There wasn't any!!!

In the absence of even one drop of Neville Bambers blood in that main bedroom, I am bound to proceed along the following lines for the purpose of this explanation, that although Neville Bamber was in bed with his wife at the time the shooting of his wife commenced, that he (Neville) didn't get shot at all, either whilst he was laying horizontally or upright prone in bed, or if and when he was moving around inside the bedroom at the time his wife was being shot!

It is astounding how the shooter never spilled a drop of Neville Bambers blood inside that bedroom, despite the fact that the shooter almost certainly had at least another 5 or possibly 6 rounds still loaded into the gun with which to shoot at and try to kill Neville Bamber...

So..

We have Neville leaping out of bed at the left hand side of the bed (as viewed from a vantage point of the observer standing at the foot of the bed). He leaps out of of bed whilst the shooter is busily firing 5 bullets into the body of his wife, and somehow he ends up downstairs in the kitchen where he subsequently gets killed off...

To be pondered, is the imaginary route taken by Neville Bamber (wounded or otherwise) from his side of the bed in the main bedroom, downstairs to the kitchen where he died?

I don't for one moment believe that Neville Bamber was even inside the farmhouse at the time June got shot and killed, but for the sake of completeness I am prepared to consider the possibility that he was..

If he got shot in the bedroom as claimed by the prosecution's case, then why did PI Miller insist that DC Hammersley should introduce four spent bullet cases (DRH/1, DRH/2, DRH/3, DRH/4) as part of the batch of crime scene ammunition recovered from the main bedroom into his second witness statement? Seems like a clear case to me, of the cops needing to add four spent bullet cases in that part of the house, but that four corresponding shots could not have been discharged there, in the main bedroom!

In any event...

Neville is in bed with his wife, the shooter tip toes into the bedroom doorway with a fully loaded rifle (10 / 11 bullets), and decides to fire only at June, a total of 5 times, this causes Neville Bamber to leap out of his bed, but what does he do next?

Does he try to protect his wife from being shot further?

Does he hurl himself at the shooter to try and overpower them?
