I was on trial at Sheffield Crown Court (12th to 22nd September 1988) on 10 counts of burgalry, and two assaults on police officers, said to have all been committed during the week-end Friday 23rd January 1988 to Sunday 25th January 1985..

Clearly, Mrs Athi's home was burgaled on the week end beforehand - hence why the owners of the bungalow (McHale / Hawkes) had possession of Mrs Athi's item 59 (the 9ct gold curb link necklet), and all her silver before the arrival of the man (George) at the bungalow at about half past six on the evening Sunday 25th January 1987! George didn't take or bring Mrs Athi's item 59 and her silencer to the bungalow on that occasion, all of it was already there, and South Yorkshire police knew this to be true! All of Mrs Athi's silverware was retained at the bungalow inside a plastic Woolworths carrier bag, that Thompson took to the bungalow the week-end before!
