Death On The Staircase - Michael Peterson
« on: June 26, 2018, 10:08:AM »
Watched a documentary on the Michael Peterson case in the US - it's on Netflix at the moment. Personally, I think he's guilty BUT members might be interested in watching as he was initially convicted on the evidence of a corrupt FBI agent (Duane Deaver). It did remind me somewhat of the silencer.

His Wife was attacked by an owl. (They typically swoop up behind their targets in the dark). With its claws entangled in her hair there was a scuffle. Once she got it off her she entered the house not knowing what attacked her. She then tried going up the stairs before either falling or passing out from shock.

This version of events is corroborated by the blood found around the main entrance and the small owl feathers found on her body plus the cuts on her scalp matching that of an Owl.

People scoff at this idea because they get the impression the argument is that an Owl killed her. But that is not the argument. The owl merely caused a chain of events that led to her death.

The staircase series is outdated and much has happened since it was made in 2004. That's why you wont hear any mention of the Owl evidence.

No, the owl was just a theory. It is STILL just a theory. The documentary goes passed 2016 when he took a plea bargain so he didn't have to go through another trial. Wouldn't call that outdated.

The docu series was released in 2004. Watched it ages ago. All I know is that Netflix have added a few things to it.

The owl theory has overwhelming evidence. While the theory of Michael as the murderer is based on nothing but suspicion and someone else in his life falling down a set of stairs some 20 years prior. The murder theory cant explain the Owl evidence while the Owl theory explains everything.

Fact - Owls have two tri-pronged talons and two tri-pronged lacerations were found on the back of her head.

Fact - At least two feathers from a bird of prey was found on the victim. The feathers had blood on them.

Fact - Michael Peterson does not have tri-pronged talons nor is he covered in feathers.

Follow the information to its logical conclusion. - She was attacked by an owl.

"16. Both feathers have been in the possession of the State, and under the supervision of the Durham Police Department for nearly 7 years. The original feather that was found by SBI expert James Gregory was noted in his case notes file, but was not noted in his final report to District Attorney Jim Hardin. James Gregory’s case notes were turned over to the Defense when David Rudolf asked for them in the course of cross-examining him. Defense Counsel had only 10 minutes to read them during a break of the court session. Nothing in the case notes makes reference to a second feather found attached to a hair by fresh blood. The new feather would have caused considerable doubt in the jurors’ minds because it clearly shows something avian was on Mrs. Peterson’s head at the time of the attack. Given the fact that no part of a blow poke or any other weapon was found in the bloody hair of Mrs. Peterson, which was pulled out by the root ball and clutched in her left hand, the jury could have reasonably determined that this attack was caused by a bird of prey. Also, autopsy photos from the wounds clearly show where the hairs torn out by the root ball are from – the intersection of the tri-pronged lacerations. This clearly indicates a gripping of Mrs. Peterson’s hair by something with tri-pronged digits. Birds have tri-pronged digits, and owls have tri-pronged digits that match the measurements of these wounds. (Note: Dr. Deborah Radisch’s notes on the autopsy diagram describing the wounds on Mrs. Peterson’s head as “tri-pronged lacerations”.)

19. Defendant has asserted his claim for newly discovered evidence within a reasonable period of time following the conclusion of his direct appeal and discovery of the feathers and blood clutched in Mrs. Peterson’s hand, both with and without fresh droplets of blood. From looking at the enlarged microscopic photo taken by Mr. Timothy L. Thompson, we now have positive proof beyond any doubt of Mr. Peterson’s innocence because the photo clearly links the victim (her hair shaft) with the bird (i.e. feather) as the perpetrator of the attack and fresh blood connecting the two and indicating that the attack has occurred."

They have added more than  a few things. They have followed the final part of his case and he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Feb 2017. The owl theory is simply that ..... a theory and it went nowhere.

He didn't plead guilty, he gave an Alford plea. A defendant making an Alford plea maintains his innocence

"In an Alford Plea, the criminal defendant does not admit the act, but admits that the prosecution could likely prove the charge. The court will pronounce the defendant guilty"

A 76 year old man making an Alford plea to end the ordeal and his house arrest to get on with the last years of what ever is left of his life make little diffrence to the owl evidence.

How does the murder theory explain the tri-pronged lacerations the same shape and size of tri-pronged owl talons? It dont. because It cant.

How does the murder theory explain the bloody feathers on the victim? It don't. because It cant.

The Owl theory stands up to scrutiny. While the Murder theory cant even explain the wounds on the victim.

I know what an Alford plea is - I watched the doc, you watched an old version. Part of what he agreed to was to plead guilty to manslaughter, regardless of whether he abided by the plea or not. The owl theory didn't even make it into the extensive documentary and bloodied feathers weren't either.

IF an owl attacked her and got stuck in her hair, there would be more than a few feathers and what happened to the owl? There was blood on the inside of the door but not on the outside, just a few drops on the ground and that could have come from Michael Peterson. She also had his shoe print on the back of her leg and  according to state Medical Examiner Dr. Deborah Radisch, Kathleen had crushed thyroid cartilage, which "suggests someone tried to manually strangle her" and she also had defence wounds on her arms - that's some owl!  Also, Peterson was involved in a similar 'accident' some years prior or are the owls in Germany man eating too? Oh! And she was minted!

I had a seagull attack me in York once, quite long talons but it certainly didn't cause that kind of damage!

Hyperflexion of the neck occurred when she fell down the stairs onto her head this caused her thyroid to break.

The owls talons got caught in her hair and she was trying to get it off hence "defence wounds"

Peterson tried to help her and that is how any blood on him and shoe prints came about

Considering a seagull is small bird that preys on earth worms. While an Owl is an apex predator with a 5ft wing span that attacks deers and can fly off with a cat for its lunch. Your seagull "attack" is a rather foolish comparison.

I've seen damage to faces, scalps and shoulders caused by nesting magpies in Australia---horrendous. These big birds swoop down from the trees on unsuspecting passers by and certainly leave their marks. Cyclists are a speciality for some reason.

Do you just ignore the points that don't fall in line with your argument? There were signs of STRANGULATION. Also, how many cases have there been of an owl killing a human being? I found one and he was stealing eggs from the birds nest! I have found several pictures of owl attacks (below). There is also a picture of Kathleen's body - note the differences in severity! (Warning, the picture is pretty graphic).

You mentioned 'small feathers'? There was one feather and it was microscopic. Had an owl been tangled in her hair, there would have been more than one 'microscopic' feather and if such an attack happened outside, why didn't Peterson hear her scream? https://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/counties/durham-county/article208071794.html

There is also the coincidence of the 'accident' in germany, where Elizabeth Ratliff met a similar fate with lacerations to her head. I thought you didn't believe in coincidences?

Kathleen Peterson's body - an owl did this?

Other owl attacks

If you stop projecting and look at the photo you will notice no strangulation marks on her neck!  8)

Also, how many cases have there been of an owl killing a human being?

The Owl didnt kill her. It caused as series of events that led to her death.

–    an attack on Mrs. Peterson outside her residence by a wild bird of prey, given the fact of two droplets on the outside brick walk-way (Kent Street entrance to the house) (see police video tape of homicide scene),
–    her subsequent return to the interior of the house,
–    her loss of consciousness from shock and pain (exacerbated by alcohol and prescription medicine),
–    a subsequent recovery of consciousness,
–    a fall, caused by slipping in a massive amount of blood pooled around her,
–    a second loss of consciousness, due to striking her head on the molding of the staircase.

You mentioned 'small feathers'? There was one feather and it was microscopic. Had an owl been tangled in her hair, there would have been more than one 'microscopic' feather and if such an attack happened outside, why didn't Peterson hear her scream?

There was a total of three feathers found. One was recorded early in the investigation and another two were found years later when they looked into the owl theory.

As for coincidences

Fact - Owls have two tri pronged set of talons

Fact - Kathleen Peterson had two tri pronged marks on the back of her head same size of an owls

Fact - Kathleen Peterson had microscopic owl feathers on her (One had her BLOOD on it)

Fact - Owls are the ONLY birds of prey that have microscopic feathers on thier talons

Fact - Kathleen Peterson had a small piece of tree bark in her hair

Fact - Owls live in trees

Fact - Kathleen Peterson was attacked at night

Fact - Owls come out an night

Fact - Owls lived were they lived and had attacked people before.

So yes Caroline, I dont believe in coincidences.

So strangulation always leaves nice hand marks does it?  ;D Dr. Radisch, the pathologist performed an examination to the internal neck area, and discovered a bloodied fracture with haemorrhage on the small extension off of the left thyroid cartilage. This is common in strangulation or attempted strangulation cases.

The rest of your post is strictly for the birds!
