Let's take a look at what Jeremy says his dad said to him, in that very brief one sided conversation, so short that there wasn't enough time for Jeremy to give any verbal response, before the line was disconnected for whatever reason:-

Possible interpretations of what was said (phonetically)

(1) - 'Jeremy, Sheila has got the gun, she has gone crazy, come Quickly'...

(2) - 'Jeremy, she has got the gun, she has gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(3) -  'Jeremy, he has got the gun, he has gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(4) - 'Jeremy, he has got the gun, Sheila's gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(5) - 'Jeremy,  he has got the gun, she has gone crazy, come Quickly'...

(6) - 'Jeremy, she's got the gun, she's gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(7) - 'Jeremy, he's got the gun, he's gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(8) - 'Jeremy, he has got the gun, he's gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(9) - 'Jeremy, he's got the gun, he has gone crazy, come Quickly'...

(10) - ' Jeremy,  she has got the gun, she has gone crazy, come Quickly'..

(11) - 'Jeremy, Sheila has got the gun, she's gone crazy, come Quickly'...

Self explanatory, Sheila had got the gun, and that Sheila had gone crazy, and Neville requesting Jeremy to come to the farm quickly!

Depending upon which interpretation was actually spoken by Neville Bamber, and heard by Jeremy Bamber, there appears to be a very large number of examples, which could imply that when Neville Bamber made his call to Jeremy that he was referring to the involvement of an accomplice, or the fact that one or other of either Sheila or June had got the gun, and or, simply had gone crazy!

Now, I believe this to be very interesting since during his police interview, When the police questioned him regarding what Neville Bamber had been able to say at the time of his short one side conversation to Jeremy, he told the police that his father could have said 'She' rather than Sheila!

The police responded by mocking him if I recollect correctly, by suggesting to Jeremy that his father had told him that somebody else had got the gun, and had gone crazy?

Well, phonetically specking, the words, 'Sheila has gone Crazy' could easily have been mistook for the use of the words, 'she has', or 'he has', for that matter...

I get it that if Neville Bamber had said 'Sheila', then of course, he was referring specifically to Sheila who had got the gun at that stage!

But 'she has'  or 'She's' could very well have been a reference to his wife June Bamber!

Furthermore, if Neville Bamber used the term, 'he has,' or 'He's', it could have been a reference to an accomplice!

It is for this reason, that I think that the trial judge misdirected the jury regarding the content of the purported telephone call made to Jeremy by Neville Bamber, since it is far from certain that the nature of any call which might have or did take place was a specific reference to Sheila Caffell's responsibility for the shootings, particularly if Neville Bamber had'nt mentioned Sheila by name at all during that short phone call!
