« on: April 03, 2017, 11:11:PM »
Had a automated call from someone they were taking court action - no details just that I should press 1 to speak to the case officer. I didn't press 1 I Googled phone scams and there are numerous instances of similar calls. Be careful out there - unscrupulous gits everywhere!!

Thanks for the warning Caroline, I read about a new scam from America.  The first words the caller says are 'can you hear me/' ... if you answer 'Yes' that is used by them to prove you have said 'Yes' to paying money to them.

The scams are becoming more sophisticated and we all have to be on our guard and wary of any call which feels even the slightest bit suspect.

For years now I've been forwarding " spoof " e-mails onto Paypal. I've lost count of the number of times I've changed my password but fortunately they don't get past my e-mail account as Paypal are pretty good on security.
I'm surprised they haven't given up trying, whoever it is. A London header by all accounts.
I still get one or two of these " mails " each week !

The last time I had a " slow computer " call, a month ago,I called them a bunch of frauds and hung up.
